Social workers from the Amarillo VA Housing First Program found grants available from community organizations. They were able to pay every bill for every Veteran and prevent the loss of their homes.

USDA recently announced $16 million in available funding to help socially disadvantaged and Veteran farmers and ranchers own and operate successful farms. The 2501 program offers grants to organizations that reach veterans and historically underserved communities and ensure their equitable participation in USDA programs.
USDA’s Rural Development has more than 40 loan, grant, and technical assistance programs for Veterans.
Project Healing Waters provides classes on fly fishing, casting, tying and rod building to any disabled Veteran who wants to participate and is unique in that its volunteers are teaching classes on an on-going, long-term basis.
VA is issuing a Notice of Funding Availability for up to $8 million in grants for fiscal year 2015 to provide adaptive sports opportunities for disabled Veterans and disabled members of the Armed Forces throughout fiscal year 2016.
