PACT Act events across America were held to explain to Veterans what the historic law could mean for them and their family members.

As the year winds down, we at VA are taking a moment to reflect on the work that VA’s public servants have done in 2022 to fulfill our mission to serve Veterans and their families, caregivers and survivors as well as they have served our country.

The Dallas VA PACT Act Week of Action brought 710 Veterans and 350 family members and caregivers to VA to enroll in health care and get screened for possible toxic exposure.

On August 10, 2022, President Biden signed into law the Honoring our PACT Act of 2022. Section 804 of this law is the Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022 (CLJA), which allows new lawsuits for people exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune.

VA’s efforts to highlight these media outlets are part of the newly launched VA Radio Outreach initiative led by the Veterans Experience Office. The heart of the initiative is VA’s internally recorded public service announcements (PSAs) on services, benefits and programs that benefit Veterans.

Between Dec. 10-17, VA hosted more than 120 PACT Act Week of Action events across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to inform Veterans, their families and survivors about the PACT Act and to encourage them to apply for the health care and benefits they have earned.

Over 130 Kentucky Veterans attended PACT Act awareness event to enroll for benefits, file a claim with VBA and be screened for conditions from burn pit exposures.

On Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, VA Secretary Denis McDonough spoke at the PACT Act Week of Action at the Maj. Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III National Guard/Reserve Center. The following are his remarks from the event.

The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Outreach, Transition and Economic Development (OTED) will host a three-hour virtual symposium on The Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act – possibly the biggest expansion of Veterans benefits in history – from 1-4 p.m. ET on Dec 16.
