A community Veterans engagement board in East Texas has worked with VA and state and community partners to develop, operate and begin renovations for CampV, a Veteran resource center in Tyler, Texas. The 20 acre site will host nine different providers offering mental and physical fitness programs, equine and canine therapy, respite and more.
“Be Connected” is more than a suicide prevention campaign; it provides tools, support, and training for community helpers to make a difference in the lives of those around them by being prepared to reach out or respond in a moment of need. The goal is to help Veterans by providing help before they reach the point of crisis, by connecting them with the services they need to alleviate life stresses. In May, a group of Be Connected's active members ran the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon to bring awareness to all of the great efforts in Arizona.
