Army Veteran Don Morrell was born with a serious, and possibly life-threatening heart condition. But for most of his life, he didn’t know it.
It wasn’t until 2021—after 7 years in the Army and another 25 years in law enforcement—when Morrell realized something wasn’t right. The ECG (electrocardiogram) feature on his Fitbit Charge 5 tracker indicated his heart was in a state of atrial fibrillation.
A subsequent doctor’s visit for tests revealed he had a heart defect since birth and a weakened blood vessel that could break without warning. The good news is that simple modifications and a low dose heart medication means Morrell’s prognosis for a long and healthy life is good.
“I want other Veterans to know that a health and wellness tool like this really does help,” he said.

I love my fitbit. I have the “Versa 2” which they aren’t advertising, but I still see it as a decent deal. I set my alarm with my fitbit (it has built in Alexa) I record my hikes and all other exercise including Yoga. I wear it to bed to monitor my sleep, which seems to be accurate. The ones they advertise also measure heart rhythms etc. which I don’t really care about. My point is the fitbit is pretty cool. The charge 5 and the Versa 4 look to be a bit more advanced than my Versa 2. I would consider it a decent deal.

Fitbit’s are crap. Had one that gave me nothing but problems. Syncing was hit or miss. Charging problems. Finally it just stopped working just outside of the warranty period. Only thing they could do for me was offer me 35% off the next one. I fell for that once. Different Fitbit model, same issues. Not wasting my time with Fitbit anymore. I would steer clear of Fitbit until they get there s#%t together.

Looks like Charge 5 is $97 with this offer. It’s $149 on Amazon and $140 at Costco. Contra to the other commenters, this appears to me to be a good deal. Depth of discount possibly varies by product.

As a consumer, it’s to your advantage to read all the comments listed on this site. Check out prices on Fitbit site and other retailers first before you attempt any signups or purchased from this posting. The VA, in general, is very reputable site giving great support and insites with lots of good things to say for vets and active duty. BUT -You’ll find that as of right now, 11/3/’22, the only advantage of taking advantage of this VA said offer is saving $4. That’s right, only $4. So the real advantage is towards IDme, not to you, the consumer. If you didn’t have IDme before and didn’t need it before this posting, you don’t need it now just to save $4 or to get into any of your VA accounts. There is no real advantage to this offer or any advantage what so ever. It’s primary function is to get you signed into IDme, not to give you any great discount or purchasing power. You can get a good price equal to any offer here, at a retailer or Amazon or anywhere but here, without signing up to IDme to get it. The practice of advertising subtle deception is a widely used practice and is practiced with the thinking there’s no harm done. Use someone elses sale pricing and website and tack on our IDme signup.

Kind of feel like this is false advertisement from Fitbit. Says 35% off but isn’t actually. Multiple sellers have the same watches for just $4 more. Fitbit lists the retail value of Sense 2 as $295.95 and the Veteran discount price as $195. Other retailers are selling the same watch for $199. I see this a lot with so called veteran discounts from vendors.

Ah man, wish I had read through the comments before I just purchased two of these!
I purchased a few new Fitbits for myself and the family a few years back. Each one failed just out of the warranty period and they would not cover the repair or replacement. Just my experience. Didn’t seem like money well spent.
We use the Garmin products now and have not had any problems.
We do have a Fitbit Scale which has worked for years and we still use it.
The price changes from the “Veteran’s Deal” versus fitbit.com are a few dollars at best. The only real deal I noticed was a year of fitbit premium, which appears to be only six months more that you would get regardless.
Looks more like “gold-plated” vs “genuine gold.”
Just my own personal opinion, which when combined with a few bucks can get you a coffee anywhere…
I have been verified as a veteran several times only being ask non personal information with other companies. This site wants too much personal information. You have to give them your birth date and social security number as well as your name and address. I will not list my social security number on any internet web page.
I did and I’ve used “ID me” for many discounts throughout the years. It’s legitimate.
Bought a Charge 5 awhile back. Worked great for a few months then went blank!!!!! Tried charging etc. Nothing! So disappointed I just threw it away.

Careful about this, they are trying to hook you into a $75 per year subscription for services that are free in other smart watches.

I have fit bit watch which helps with keeping info on blood pressure and shows me my pulse rate which made me see the doctor because it was running high. They found I had affibilation. Unfortunately it let me know my pulse rate way low and I passed out while driving and had a serious accident.
I tried to redeem the Fitbit offer for 35% off for a device. When I completed ID me, I went to the https://shop.id.me/military page then clicked on the Fitbit link.
But that link took me back to the ID.me page, and the only thing I can do from there is to re-confirm my identity.
So since I already did that, will I have to re-confirm then click on the Fitbit link again and go back to re-confirm again?

I went to the FitBit website to check products and prices even before I applied the “military” discount. The Smartwatch I was looking at was $149. I went through the military discount using ID Me, was verified, and then checked the price with the discount — same price! This is not a deal as advertised.
