When Army Veteran Josef Mendez Lopez needed medical care, he turned to the VA Health Chat app for quick and convenient care.
“I started chatting with one of the nurses almost immediately,” Mendez said. The nurse led him through a series of questions and helped Mendez get the care he needed.
Immediate access to VA staff
With VA Health Chat, Veterans can chat online with VA nurses and other VA staff to ask questions about nonemergency health concerns, schedule VA appointments, refill their VA prescriptions and more.
Veterans have the option to chat from anywhere on a computer or smartphone. VA staff can seamlessly escalate the chat to a video visit from within VA Health Chat for a more dynamic experience if needed. This enables the Veteran to receive a timely response while maintaining the personal feel of in-person visits.
“The immediate feedback that I get gives me assurance that someone is tending to my needs,” said Mendez.
Health care from anywhere you are
VA Health Chat enables Veterans to reach VA care from wherever they are, regardless of their schedules or distance from VA facilities.
“We can go on with our lives, work, be at home and have the assurance that we can still connect with our health care providers,” Mendez said.
Veterans can access VA Health Chat from any smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection. The app can be launched through the VA App Store and the VA Launchpad for Veterans app. It is also available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
To see if your VA facility is participating in VA Health Chat, visit the app’s page on the VA App Store.
