VA’s Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) is hosting on-site and virtual hiring fairs in February and March that are designed to connect job seekers with positions related to the PACT Act, the new law that may make Veterans exposed to toxins while serving eligible for benefits and care. The fairs are part of VA’s PACT Act initiative to hire processors to handle the many claims that have been submitted since the PACT Act became law in August 2022.
The online and on-site career fairs are for the same positions. However, the online sessions are for informational purposes, while the on-site events are actual career fairs that will result in filling critical PACT Act claims processor positions. On-site applicants can be hired on the spot.
The on-site fairs are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time at eight locations in the country:
- Feb. 7: 9500 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33744
- Feb. 9: 701 Clay Ave., Waco, Texas
- Feb. 14: 11000 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, California
- Feb. 16: 5000 Wissahickon Ave., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Feb. 22: 5400 West National Ave., Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Feb. 23: 110 9th Ave. South, Nashville, Tennessee
- Feb. 28: 550 Foothill Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah
- March 2: 2122 West Taylor St., Chicago, Illinois
All applicants must apply for a VSR, RVSR or LAS position on USAJOBS.gov prior to the event or the closing date of the announcement. Job seekers of all experience levels are welcome to apply for priority consideration prior to the closing date. Apply in advance right here.
- Rating Veterans Service Representative (RVSR) closing date is March 3 https://www.usajobs.gov/job/695393000
- Veterans Service Representative (VSR) closing date is March 3 https://www.usajobs.gov/job/695392900
- Legal Administrative Specialist (LAS) closing date is March 3 https://www.usajobs.gov/job/696645200
Applicants selected for the positions must have two forms of identification for on-site fingerprinting, including at least one containing a photo. Applicants who register in advance may be contacted by a VBA representative to confirm an in-person appointment on the date of the hiring event. Walk-in applicants are welcome, too, but they must still apply for a VSR, RVSR or LAS position before the in-person event to be hired on the spot.
In addition to the in-person events, VBA will be hosting virtual job fairs across the country to provide information on each position available. They are all from 1 to 2:30 p.m. EST:
- Feb. 8: Northeast Career Information Session
- Feb. 15: Continental Career Information Session
- Feb. 21: Pacific Career Information Session
- March 1: Southeast Career Information Session
Since President Biden signed the PACT Act into law on Aug. 10, 2022, Veterans have filed nearly 300,000 PACT Act-related claims. The new employees hired by VBA will help ensure that Veterans and their survivors get the PACT Act-related benefits they’ve earned in a timely manner.
The PACT Act helps Veterans of the Vietnam, Gulf War and post-9/11 eras who were exposed to toxic fumes, burn pits, Agent Orange, radiation and other environmental hazards. Survivors of toxic exposed-Veterans, and Veterans who served in specific countries in Africa, the Middle East and Southwest Asia, are also potentially eligible. Learn more about the PACT Act by going to VA.gov/pact or by calling 1-800-MYVA-411.

Thing is former veterans that made a career in the Federal Government can not apply as it would in cases destroy a CSR or FERS retirement!
I wonder if they’ll be doing background checks or speaking to former employers? I think not in the rush to hire…….
My application for Legal Administration Specialist Vacancy # DHA-11597760-22-CB was forwarded to the hiring manager on 11-03-22. But I have yet to be contacted by anyone. Can you please check on the status of my application. I’ve been patiently waiting to be contacted. Thank you.
Just from prior experience , you may not be contacted , especially if they hired someone else. Then again the hiring official may not have done interviews yet. I would go back to the announcement and get the HR specialist name who is handling the case and call them …
