Get all the experience you need to succeed as a contracting specialist at VA in our Technical Career Field (TCF) Health Care Contracting Training Program.
With a hand in making strategic and innovative business decisions, VA contracting specialists help our facilities obtain the goods and services we need to care for Veterans.
Contracting specialists are one of the most highly needed occupations at VA, and through the TCF Health Care Contracting Training Program, you can find a path to this rewarding and important career.
The opportunity
TCF trainee programs are national workforce development courses designed to recruit critically needed technical staff. These positions function more like apprenticeships, offering the intensive training required for certain, specialized career paths.
Managed by our Procurement Operations Office, the TCF Health Care Contracting Training Program is designed to develop highly skilled, competent and motivated contract specialists who are ready, willing and able to meet the needs of our facilities.
Over the course of this invaluable two-year program, you will receive 4,160 hours of specialized training in health care contracting, enjoying a mix of on-the-job experience, observation, mentoring and formal learning.
In the end, you’ll have the VA-specific knowledge and experience that directly impacts the quality of life and care our Veterans enjoy—and a path to a rewarding career here at VA.
The rewards
Careers at VA come with incredible benefits, which can make an enormous difference for you and your loved ones.

And when you’re ready to take your career to new heights, we offer ongoing leadership development and education support through every level of employment.
