Your Commissary recently launched the new Commissary CLICK2GO (CC2G) mobile app for Apple and Android devices to make your shopping experience even more convenient. To help you learn more about what features it offers, we’re sharing five tips you should know:
You’ll need a DoD ID number to create an account
The Commissary requires your DoD ID number in the “Military ID” field of the registration form in order to create an account on the app or online so we can validate that accounts are created for authorized Commissary customers.
We’re aware that some Veterans and military retirees may not have this number printed on their ID cards, but if this applies to you, don’t fret! Simply visit this landing page on our website to review step-by-step instructions for how to retrieve your DoD ID number from the milConnect site.
Know where to use the MILITARY STAR® card for online purchases
Please note that the MILITARY STAR® card has not been added to the CC2G app at this time. For now, if you wish to use this card to pay for your online order, please visit us online to place your CC2G order there.
Use multiple options to find your favorite products and save even more
You can find products on the app by browsing by category, making personalized searches or simply scanning the barcode of a product you have at home.
Browse by clicking the Browse icon that is second from the left on the bottom toolbar. You can customize what you see while you’re browsing by selecting a category and subcategory, adding any filter(s) and choosing how you want your results sorted.
Enter keywords in the search toolbar at the top of the “Discover” homepage to search more specifically for a particular product you want. You can add any filter(s) and choose how you want your results sorted to personalize them to your preferences.
If you finish any products you have at home and need to order more, simply scan product barcodes on their packages to find if they’re available at Your Commissary. To do this, tap the barcode icon on the right-hand side of the Search toolbar, grant access to your device’s camera (if you haven’t already) and use the camera to scan the barcode.
On the product page, you can read product descriptions, ingredient and nutrition information, and set any substitution preferences you may have and tap “Add to Cart” to add it to your order. You can also tap the heart icon in the upper right-hand corner to add the product to your default shopping list for later.
Plus, if the product has a digital coupon available, it will be listed on the page. If you have your Commissary rewards card number registered on your CC2G account, then you can tap the “Clip and Save” button below it to enjoy extra savings. You can search directly for coupons by tapping the Coupons icon on the bottom toolbar, or verify which coupons you have clipped by tapping the More icon to its right and then selecting “My Coupons.”
Select Your Commissary and view your sales flyer
Select Your Commissary in the CC2G app by tapping “Shopping at” on the “Discover” homepage or tapping the More icon in the bottom toolbar, selecting “My Account” and updating the “My Store” section. Either option will allow you to search for the location you want and tap the “Make This My Store” button to make your initial selection or update it.
Once you have this set, you can tap the Sales Flyer icon at the center of the bottom toolbar to directly access the sales flyer relevant to your selected location. This is a great way to see our current promotions and plan your shopping to maximize your savings.
Find and shop recipes, including many dietitian-approved options
Tap the More icon in the bottom toolbar and select “Recipes” to view a variety of recipes, which you can narrow down by searching or browsing by category and adding any filter(s). You can also click the heart icon in the upper right-hand corner of a recipe or the upper left-hand corner of a recipe page to add that recipe to your favorites. You can view these favorites at any time by returning to the Recipe section and adding the filter “Show My Favorites.”
Want to shop for a recipe’s ingredients so you can put it to the test? We’ve made this a breeze! Tapping the + icon to the right of any product in the recipe’s ingredients list will load related options so you can choose one to add to your cart or your default shopping list.
Plus, if you filter recipes by “Dietitian Approved,” you’ll find recipes published and approved by our Defense Commissary Agency dietitian. In addition to the information listed on other recipe pages, you’ll find these listings include a dietitian approved nutrition analysis.

Tried to set-up my rewards card account online. System does not recognize my Military ID number. I contacted customerservice@deca.mil. Response was The Invalid military ID error is a known issue that has been brought to our website teams’ attention and is being worked to be fixed at this time. Unfortunately, we do not have an expected time of repair at this time. We appreciate your patience.
How do you change the settings to make it paper I need to keep up with what I’m spending
I have milconnect login and can login but there is no info.
I have NEX and commissary privileges with my VHIC with service connected.
Opened numerous tickets with DoD and Commissary command but no fixes.
I’ve found that the app is not very user friendly. The search feature described above is horrible. You put in a product and literally no results show up even though the item is available! The coupons are not great. Overall I think the commissaries are poorly run, over staffed yet ironically poorly operated (no stock rotation for example. Last week was start of June and they had items on the shelves that expired in April!). And their veggies are always second rate. In today’s world it would be better to get rid of all commissaries, make government contracts with larger companies and give eligible beneficiaries the actual % discount that the commissary claims they afford us that all GAO audits have repeatedly shown the commissaries fail to provide!! The poorly built app is just another example of the failure of the commissaries to deliver on their promises
Question: Are Veterans allowed to use an on base Commissary privileges? Thanks
If you have “service connected” on your VHIC.
How do I find out if I can use commissary and shopping? I am a disabled vet at 80%. Can you help me? I am 80 years old and somewhat technology challenged. I live in pueblo so my shopping would probably be in Colorado Springs. Thanks in advance for your assistance with this. Larry Held
Hi Larry! All you need is your VA healthcare ID card and drivers license or some other form of ID. I usually recommend you have a copy of your award letter too (I’m a social worker for the VA and these questions come up a lot). :)
I’m a disabled vet who tried shopping at the commissary at MacDill ADB in Tampa FL. The marked prices of items were less than the prices I normally pay at regular supermarkets, so at first I thought I had found a good deal. Boy was I wrong! At checkout the cashier added two different fees to my bill that totaled over $20! He explained that non active-duty personnel have to pay these fees for the privilege of shopping there, and it’s the same at all commissaries everywhere. Well that extra $20+ I had to pay essentially evaporated the low-price bargain I thought I had saved by shopping there. So now I don’t bother going to any commissary as I can get better prices at Aldi. Another VA Administration fail, in my opinion.
I’ve used the commissary for at least 3 decades (as an active duty soldier, a national guard member, and now a retiree) and there has ALWAYS been a 5% surcharge.
I now work for the VA as a social worker and have educated newly eligible veterans of commissary privileges about access – the additional 1.9% added to new vets is not assessed by the VA but the commissary and is to offset fees from credit and debit cards when used. To avoid this fee you can use cash. But the 5% surcharge has always been there and has nothing to do with the Dept of Veterans Affairs
Fellow disabled vet here… Commissaries aren’t in any way run by the VA- the Commissary Authority is run by DoD directly. The 5% surcharge has always been there because Congress (who authorizes Commissaries & approves the DoD budget) requires the surcharge covering facilities & the appropriated general fund covering salaries, benefits & other operating costs. For several years now Congress has been squeezing Commisary budgets in an effort to decrease taxes. That resulted in higher prices to soldiers & veterans. Last Fall Sec of Defense Austin announced new initiatives to cut prices & revamp operations. You should be seeing the impact at your local commissary by now. Eileen,
As much as I hoped I would see a decrease in my weekly commissary bill, I’m still holding my breath. As an Active Duty member who pretty much exclusively shops at the commissary weekly (aside from a few specialty items that they may not carry) for a family of 5 for the past 15 years, I have only see the bill increase. Last fall when the Secretary of Defense announced his initiatives I waited and waited for the decreases to come. It’s been nearly a year. I can say that my weekly spending hasn’t increased so maybe that was the change- to halt inflation from continuing to creep in?
Charles, as an Active Duty military member currently stationed here at MacDill, I promise you that I too pay that surcharge. A big problem I find with this commissary is posted prices are not what is scanned at the registers!
