VA is now providing more care and more benefits to more Veterans than ever before, and in order to continue serving Veterans at this historic rate, we are hiring additional staff across the country. We are also implementing new hiring and retention authorities to grow and maintain a diverse, talented workforce that is focused on one core mission: deliver world-class care and benefits to Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.

Both the Veterans Health Administration and the Veterans Benefits administration have achieved their highest growth rates in 20 years—and the Veterans Benefits Administration is now above 29,000 employees for the first time in history.

All of that information and more is now available in the VA Workforce Dashboard, which can be viewed in full here. All future dashboards will also be available on this site.

VA is publishing this dashboard the fourth Friday of each month to provide insight into VA’s progress growing and retaining its workforce to deliver more care and more benefits to more Veterans.

As part of VA’s commitment to transparency, we are sharing the same dashboard both internally and externally to maximize accountability to the Veterans, families, caregivers and survivors we serve.

Key aspects of the dashboard include:

  • The total number of employees onboard with VA
  • Comparison of VA’s growth this year in comparison with prior years
  • The progress toward end of year onboard targets for highlighted occupations across VA
  • The retention rates for highlighted occupations
  • The utilization of new authorities granted by PACT Act
  • An employee story about why they chose VA and their commitment to Veterans

Whether you are a Veteran or a civilian, VA invites you to come work with a team of committed professionals dedicated to helping our nation’s Veterans. Take the first step toward joining VA today—for more information, visit VA.gov/jobs/.

I’m thrilled to hear that the VA is expanding its services and benefits to a greater number of veterans than ever before. The commitment to hiring additional staff across the country demonstrates a dedication to meeting the increasing demands and providing world-class care. The emphasis on diversity and talent retention further highlights the VA’s focus on building a capable and compassionate workforce. Kudos to the VA for their unwavering commitment to serving veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors

VA fundamentally is a good organization made up of good people. However, VA suffers from poor management of policies, practices and procedures. Too many, too few, overlapping, too complicated. However, there is 1 best solution: Staff a call-in center with sufficient, knowledgable persons so Vets can call 1 place and get info and knowledgable direction. The equivalent of 1 stop shopping. Pls VA, just do it. Scott Nelson, USMC vet.

We really don’t care about how many employees the has. We want our benefits. If the government defaults, we get screwed.

60k new employees hired in the mean time i been waiting on a a decision on my case. Rather then focusing on hiring need to focus on training as well as teaching your employees how to schedule revise and properly communicate so you can streamline the process. its shouldn’t take over a year an a half to accept or deny a claim simple review the records and pick one so we can either move forward with treatments or rebuttal the decision with private doctors. The in network doctors are a joke they have a degree but don’t work they’re just collecting the pay. how about worry about fixing the mess of a system y’all already have before you hire more people that are simply gonna answer the phone to read prompts to us rather then giving us actual information.

I’m Retired California state firefighter and EMT. I literally fought fires and saved lives. I now have cancer and the VA refuses to even acknowledge me as a cancer patient or a veteran. I have been abandoned by the VA. The VA has killed more family and friends than any other entity in the world. I would never work for such a substandard disgusting government agency. Now the VA is hiring all these employees who will become lops with VA badges. The VA is for civilians to make money off veterans suffering pain and death. The animosity that civilian VA employees have towards veterans is as obvious as the human right violations in Saudi Arabia.

Oh yeah, my pact act compensation is already over 150 days. What’s the VA sorry excuse for proprietorizing cancer patients now? The VA is a joke and the veterans are the punchline.
