Beyond its virtual nature, the Colorado Veterans Experience Action Center held Aug. 22-23 was a testament to the power of unity in a digital world.

From VA experts to local support networks, the collaborative effort succeeded in delivering connection, collaboration and commitment for Colorado Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.

Army Veteran Richard Clements captured the sentiment of many attendees, sharing, “This is the most I have seen happen in my time with VA.” His words exemplified the experiences of many participants who found solace, camaraderie and empowerment through the virtual platform.

Partnerships: Pillars of empowerment

The triumph of the Colorado VEAC is a testament to the collaborative spirit of partners who shaped its success. Within VA, the Veterans Benefits Administration, Veterans Health Administration, National Cemetery Administration and Veterans Experience Office were all on hand to share their expertise with Veterans. The Colorado Department of Veterans Affairs enriched the event’s local impact, while the Home Front Military Network, a devoted community partner, played a pivotal role in ensuring its efficacy.

A tapestry of transformation

Army Veteran Richard Kellar expressed his sentiment, saying, “I am tickled pink.”

Thanks to individuals like Todossii “Dot” Short, a Rating-Veterans Service Representative at VBA’s Denver Regional Benefits Office, the event offered a space where Veterans were able to seamlessly navigate the complexities of accessing their benefits and resources.

“Dot was amazing,” said Air Force Veteran Wesley Dixon. “She took care of everything. She put me at ease. She answered all my questions. She is amazing!”

The success of the Colorado VEAC isn’t just reflected in anecdotes; it’s substantiated by positive customer satisfaction statistics. At present, 90.4% of participants endorsed the ease of accessing necessary care, while 86.3% praised the efficacy of assistance provided. An impressive 97.3% voiced feeling valued and respected throughout the virtual event. In a testament to trust-building, 80.8% expressed confidence in VA and its partners. Of profound significance, 90.4% vouched for the VEAC’s efficacy by recommending it to fellow Veterans. These figures underscore VEAC’s prowess in bridging distances, nurturing trust and sparking empowerment.
