I used this program in Disney World. Great value, clean facilities and a short walk to the Disney transportation center.
Why am I not eligible for these type of benefits? I was married to my husband for 53 years before he passed away and was his caregiver for the last 5. Now I have to pay to go to a federal park? Not fair. It’s like all the love and support for all these years got tossed out the window when he passed away. I feel very disassociated now.

I did go through and sign up for Armed Forces Vacation Club (AFVC). Created the login and booked a vacation. I have tried to login again and the website says incorrect login information. Which it was saved correctly. I also called the Hotel to verify the reservation, and they have no clue what I was talking about. Is this fraud on us Veterans?
1SG- AFVC is not a fraud. If you have any login or other issues there is a help desk number you can call to try and help you. It is on the AFVC website.
We have used Afvc for the last 10 years. It’s a great program. Some facilities do charge a fee when you arrive, and some do not. We have stayed in two of the resorts in Williamsburg VA, in Pennsylvania , in the Shenandoah Mountains, and in western Massachusetts . We have taken advantage of some of the sale offers where we pay less than the $409: At times getting two vacations for the price of one. We have the free membership and have really enjoyed it. We much appreciate this benefit as retirees.

We are now fulltime retired RV travelers. Does the program have discounts for RV Parks and Resorts. We have hit frustrating rules set by base commanders on for FamCamps that exclude non-local Veterans.

Not a very east site to navigate for searches. Ran a search that saved the search automatically and do not have any idea how to view what was saved. Also, a lot of promotion to upgrade to a Premium Membership. Might be good if you if travel a lot in a year.

I only had to do one search and price check to discover afvclub is just a front for standard vacation rentals. I found no price benefit for veterans and in most cases the price was higher than I can get else where like vrbo or airbnb.

Hi Noto- Sounds like you’re not a fan of AFVC? It’s been around since 1999 w/ more than 2M+ members. Our FREE standard membership offers some great resort deals. -Yes you have to be flexible. Our hotel savings are good but to take advantage of the deepest savings you have to take advantage of PREMIUM membership. A few discounted stays and you actually make up for the paid PREMIUM. Give it a try.

Who ever approved armed forces vacation club as a benifit did not vet the facilities. They are all bottom of the barrel either under construction remodel or selected undesirable units set aside for rci or afvc. Weal and rip off program
Hi John- I would agree that resort facilities around the world vary in appearance. Overseas accommodations have different standards than US. AFVC does not own the resorts but expect high standards.
Afvc is not a true benifit most properties are not vetted and the bottom of the barrel. I lust tried booking 3 weeks in austrailia and new zealand. Horrible facilities

I was recently a guest of a nonAFVC vacation club member. The hotel we stayed at is listed in the AFVC list of choices. The pitch to attend a meeting about vacation club/time share was overbearing. And, to add insult to injury, to attend this meeting you had to give them and upfront/refundable fee of $50.
I definitely need to read comments from actual users. It sounds too good to be true.

I hate to put this here, but the AFVC is no longer a valid “good deal” and there is no longer any oversight by any military agency. When I used them a couple decades ago, it was very decent. However, now it’s a money grab to get you to join their “premium” access. True, the stated rates are very good. However, do your research! There have been hundreds of stories of the properties being run down, dirty, and often lots of unexpected “fees” once you actually arrive to check-in.
If you’ve had a recent positive experience, please post it…I would love to be proven wrong.

Veterans should beware of the “Armed Forces Vacation Club.” Many of their “$200-7 day stays” also charge you a RESORT FEE of $200+ per person, per day. Children get charged $200 per day too! VA should use caution when promoting these bookers.

We are caregivers for a 92 old alzheimers mother very difficult to care for but wiling to try this unique free vacation club. We need more info supplied to us.
This is great marketing, but also very predatory for veterans/service members. You can unlock all deals or get “better” deals with a membership. Of course their “membership” looks very aggressive if you sign up for 3 years.
A quick look at regular bookings and AirBNB and other services are way cheaper. My credit card points and other apps like hopper would give me way better pricing on hotels than the 4-5 dollars you save on this site.
Looking further at some of their more attractive “deals” I noticed that they have Tripadvisor reviews and ratings tied to some of their destination deals. Funny, because they mislabel some of their resort names. A quick search of a resort that I see a name on the AFVclub site on the TripAdvisor site it is not the same. Further digging in it actually isn’t the same and the name quickly switches once I click on a review from the AFVclub site.
The AFVclub site has no verification process if you are a Veteran/service member, so what this tells me is they want you to sign up and grab your information, then they want you to sign up for a “premium” membership that promises you will “save” more money after spending money to find out.
This sounds like the same scams that people use to take Veterans and service members money.

Here is a more informative paragraph from the part of the ‘club’ site that does load

So this is a poorly writtne ad for a club that will upsell memberships. May be a good deal for some – but the perks and bennies are not all free. Rebecca Larin might have mentioned that in her prose-y write up.

Many resort, island, Caribbean destinations out of reach to we vets. Mandatory all inclusive charges 300 dollars per person per day and more, unless you are a retired general families have little to no choices. I have used this service have found almost not worth the bother.

I’ve read so many negative reviews about this veterans vacation club. I’m wondering why the VA has wasted time and money promoting this business. Seems like there’s a lot of wasted funding. Many veterans will assume this is a legit and cost savings club where in reality it isn’t.

Hi John- We do have AI inventory. Some inventory is OPTIONAL & other MANDATORY as you stated. The AI fees are all controlled by the actual resort. The accommodations are booked through AFVC. – so it is best to do your due diligence and you can also reach out to our call center with additional questions.

A basic search on Google results in several 1 or 1.5 star ratings from Veterans with similarly poor experiences when booking vacations through AFVC. I’m totally confused why this news source would recommend an organization that doesn’t honor Veterans, but seems to exploit their status.

I am leery myself. What sounds too good to be true usually is. I was recently a guest of a nonAFVC vacation club member. The check in process was delayed by a high pressured sales pitch to attend a vaca club/time share meeting. The rest of the stay was most enjoyable.

This site is horrible.
BEWARE: Armed Forces Vacation Club is run by a timeshare company. They offer great week vacations at very low prices and I use and support the normal AFVC service. However, be warned, they also sell what they call “Resort Vacation Certificates”. They will send an email offering one week vacation stays for $100 less than the normal price and even as low as $300 per week. I fell for this scam. I assumed the locations and venues available on Armed Forces Vacation Club would be available for these reduced prices and I purchased two certificates. When I went to use them I discovered only a few places available for the reduced price and none of them were good. Canada in winter for example is available. A few places in Orlando. Then when I went to use the Orlando location during my granddaughter’s Cheerleading competition, nothing was available in Orlando. Clearly they block dates when there are big events going on. These two certificates are useless. Complete waste of $600.
Hi Mario- AFVC is part of the iconic Travel & Leisure Co. who also owns RCI (timeshare exchange company). In regards to RVCs- you can preview resort inventory before you book. Yes you have to be flexible.

So did an internet search for reviews on the Armed Forces Vacation Club and found poor reviews and low ratings. Do your research on any company offering special deals for veterans and generally you’ll see they aren’t so special.

I would think, as in other like sites, if you have a Dependent ID card (Widow), from the sponsor (deceased), you should be able to apply. Once again, under the DEERS system, proper identified widows/and or widow in some cases, retain the “rights and privileges” of various programs based on their “deceased” sponsor. It is also very important than when a “sponsor” dies, that the once dependent member applies for a new ID card indicating their new status.

I am the surviving spouse of a 25 year service retired Army officer. I have a DOD retired military spouse/widow ID card with full dependent entitlements and an INDEF expiration. My husband had 100% VA disability in 3 Vietnam Agent Orange Categories (paid VA 100% disability for 1 category), and he earned a Purple Heart from injuries received in a Viet Cong bombing. I collect VA Dependent Indemnity Compensation (DIC) and his Army Survivors Benefit Plan (SBP) election. I qualify for programs such as VET-TIX, and MWR benefits also. Do I qualify for the AF Vacation Club? I was his sole primary care provider during his many years long Alzheimer’s Disease. I feel like I not only should qualify, but deserve a vacation club benefit for my service to him!
