Each year, the Veterans Day National Committee—comprised of representatives from nearly 50 organizations dedicated to serving and supporting America’s Veterans—hosts the annual Veterans Day observance at Arlington National Cemetery. On Nov. 11, the ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and continue inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by Veterans organizations and remarks from dignitaries.

VA encourages communities and non-profit organizations to apply to host VA-recognized, local Veterans Day observances. These events will ensure that fitting tributes are paid across the Nation and serve as examples for other communities to follow when planning their Veterans Day observances. This year, Veterans Day ceremonies recognized by VA will be held in 66 communities throughout 34 states and the District of Columbia to honor the Nation’s Veterans.

Each approved regional site receives a supply of official Veterans Day posters, military ceremonial support from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and a certificate from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for inclusion in the official program.

Click here after Veterans Day 2023 if you are interested in applying for your community to become a regional site in 2024.

The list of selected regional Veterans Day sites is below. If your community or organization is not one of these sites, click here for VA’s event calendar, which will be updated weekly with Veterans Day ceremonies, parades and other events in communities across the country.

New York has at least 4 VA hospitals, at least 25 VA services stations in upstate NY, the largest city in the country, and more veterans then any other state. But, absolutely no mention of any event or recognition for us, I am sure some one at your VA headquarters knows these. Yet no mention of any of these facts in any publication the VA sent me
or the other hundreds of thousands of Veterans in New York State. WHY ????????
    ?

Where is Illinois having ceremonies. I do not see it on the list.

Please join us in College Park, Maryland for the 30-year Anniversary of our Veterans Memorial.
On 11/11 at 11:00am location: the corner of Route 1 and Greenbelt Ave.
We will have the original architect of the memorial Mr. James Clark as our featured speaker.

New York does not have a VA approved Veterans day parade or event. That is shameful. The American legion, VFW, and other veteran agencies in New York should be ashamed. Maybe they should ask for donations less frequently and concentrate more on things that are important to veterans like me. I did get an invitation from the Legion for this month. However it costs $149 for the hotel, $10 to register, and the veterans have to pay for dinner. I’m pretty sure the meetings will include a lot of fundraising. Of course we celebrate big for Cinco DeMaio and pride events. Not happy about this New York.

How do we add our local parade to this list? Montgomery County Indiana Veterans Coalition, Crawfordsville Indiana ?

If you had read this article, this if your state, city or county was Not listed, then No One from your state, city or county applied! The VA did Not do a random draw. If you want your Veterans to be recognized, then you have to apply. Read this article again, please.

Illinois is not worthy to be called a Veterans state. I see Mexican Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo but nothing for Veterans who fought to keep Illinois a safe place. I guess one has to line a politicians pocket to be recognized as a Veteran

I was looking for New Jersey’s “STANCE” and I did not see it which I am not surprised since a few years ago Veteran flag was taken down and they put it up IN Paramus Park NJ.the the RAINBOW flag. They RESPECTED the VETs of the country in that no other state did, Maybe we should thank Gov. MURPHY for that “MEMORIZATION” !?!?!?

  14. William Braniff October 20, 2023 at 08:56

Once again, Maine the forgotten State is again, is Forgotten. Thanks a lot VA
