Hello, I’m doing good at this time. Thank you for checking in on me. We had a great Veterans Day with family and friends and a large turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
I contacted Smashburgers’ guest relations. Their response: “Smashburger did not offer a specific promotion for Veteran’s Day this year. Many sites were showing an offer from previous years & unfortunately we were unable to remove from all sites prior to the day. Smashburger did not approve an offer this year.”
Please add the Garden Buffet in the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, NV to this list. For the past few years (with the exception of the covid outbreak), the South Point has offered a free buffet to Veterans and one guest every Memorial Day and Veterans Day. That’s two free meals! The long is usually very long, but it moves surprisingly quickly. Plus, casino servers walk the line offering free bottled water. Much appreciation to this establishment when the bigger places on the Strip offer nothing.
Kudos to
Vicious Biscuit, Summerville, SC for a great breakfast
Boos to Huddle House, Moncks Corner, SC who did not honor the advertised on Veterans Day, refusing.
Boos to Smashburger who did not honor the advertised, refusing.
Not a Wendy’s in sight honored the advertised, all refusing. Boo!
Kudo’s to an enthusiastic Bad Daddy’s Burger bar for a spectacular tasty lunch.
Kudo’s to Sticky Fingers bbq and Freddy’s, another enthusiastic supporter of veterans.
Hat’s off to Publix for grocery discounts.
We remember those who remember us, and forget the others who don’t appear to keep their word.
I love the long list, but we need a drop-down menu by state. Also by date for the ongoing stuff.
Almost all of these offers are from 2020, 2021, and 2022, and they are not offered this year…Did the authors of this article check any of these offers to see that they apply THIS year ?
Since there are so many similar comments, can’t the authors write a comment explaining this oversight to us ?
Aren’t (or shouldn’t) they do this before releasing such an article ?
Thank you to the many businesses that have shown support and continue to do so. I agree with comment 235 Michael and feel who ever is in charge of the resources should update them. Thank you to all.
Military Discounts should be daily year round or at least the month of November!! Would pull more business throughout the month because Veterans would bring paying family! Maybe send vouchers to Veterans that sign up to get discounts for the month. Turn in voucher so only one meal/discount per Veteran. Valid the entire month of November!
I served, and so-what? So did hundred of thousand other Vets who love their county. Even some people who love their country and Didn’t serve- they love their country also-right. Discounts are just another Blessing our country provides- be thankful that we live in the USA.
I am proud to have served my country. I appreciate all companies that decided to honor our heroes. Unfortunately, many of the links are outdated. I went into a Chipotle and they pretty much argued with me that they do not offer anything for veterans. I showed them where they were on the site and they pretty much said it was a mistake. Also, if you do not intend to give a veteran’s discount do not place your company name on the site. I am calling out Subway for this. Their title is Subway Veteran’s Special … it goes on to say they don’t give a veteran’s special. I hate stolen glory and for this I will no longer eat at any Subway anywhere.
The Hawaiian Bros deal is incorrect. It is for Veterans only.
I am very grateful for all the business that honor us veterans! It give me great pride to live here!
Thanks to all who appreciate the military. Freedom is not Free!
After reading most of the posts, does anyone know the TRUE meaning of a Veteran?
Thankyou for doing this page of discounts for us vets! I truly am thankful for your doing this for us who have earned this extra attention for what we’ve done.
I’m a Vet Nam vet and I used these discounts!
Contacted several Wendy’s about veterans Day meal that wre advertised and they were not participating and rude. Clear that they are not veteran friendly!
Shari’s update for Nov. 11 2023: Free Homestyle Breakfast
Shari’s also offers 10% discount to Veterans everyday.
Love the list! Thank you.
Next year, please have a way to sort these according to state and city.
Why post an outdated list? At least put in subject line something like, ‘first published’.
be great if they were listed by area, so many of these places we have never heard of. thx
Restaurants and stores with only links and no explanations of discount… The links I have clicked on take you to their website and there is no mention or explanation of discount or how or what the discount is. These links should be verified that there is an actual Veterans Day offer before putting them on the list. Time is wasted on these links.
What a surprise the VA chooses what comments to post. Half of the positive comments are probably VA workers. What I originally posted was, ask a mortarman if they can make a mistake while plotting coordinates. The amount of effort someone puts into anything including a list, shows how much they care about the subject (i.e. the VA with veterans).
?????
To all Veterans, we salute you.
To the VA, restaurants, retailers, and this link. Thank you very much.
If you can read, thank a teacher. If you are reading in English, thank a vet.
Though appreciated, a 10% discount is meager.
I would think the minimum discount should be a least 20%.
I appreciate the establishments that honor veterans. I served over 22 years in the USAF. I love going for my “ free” meal. My husband and I always leave a tip. The only issue I ever had is everyone thanks my husband for his service ( he never served. He’s a retired police officer so I guess he looks more military than I!). Lol. I really just shrug it off. I consider the meal a nice gift not a right.
It is so nice of most of these places to honor are Men and women who risked their lives but I think they sure are worth more than a small cup of ☕! I was a waitress when my husband was in the service and I know how much a cup of coffee costs!
I sincerely appreciate all the businesses who patriotically support those who have served by simply offering a kind gesture such as free meals or discounts through their establishments. However, as a retired service member, I have never solicited or have taking advantage of these gracious companies. I do intend to patron these establishments, but no need to ask for anything free or at a reduced price. My military service has compensated me and my family well. Thanks again.
Great help, thanks. Appreciate remembering the Vets. Older vets appreciate being thanked for their service.
I echo the comments of those who are disappointed with the accuracy of the list – not the substance of any offer. It is wonderful that any business provides discounts or other benefits to veterans – whether it’s a cup of coffee or a full meal or some significant discount. On the other hand, when the “recognition” is clearly nominal, I don’t think it is an unfair perception that it appears to be done just so they can claim to be doing something. It might be well-intentioned, but it doesn’t reflect well on the business, and I hope they understand that.
What is more disturbing is the inaccuracy of these listings. Many are out of date, and many others just link to the business’s web page without any mention or information about veteran benefits or discounts. (I didn’t check them all; however, of the many I checked, more than half were deficient in some way.) Either the VA or the business itself is doing a disservice by not providing an accurate or current link.
chipotle is not offering any discounts
This list needs an update!
Here are a few of the deals that I know of:
Perkins: On Veteran’s Day, active duty, retired military, and veterans are invited to their local Perkins to enjoy a Free Magnificent Seven meal. Needs valid military ID.
Huddle House: Free MVP meal. TNeeds valid military ID.
Logan’s Roadhouse: Logan’s offers a special Veterans Day menu for free from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no need to make a purchase to receive this offer. In order to qualify, veterans and service members must present their military ID or come in uniform. This offer is valid for all military branches, including reservists and the National Guard. It is only available for dine-in customers.

The offer is valid for dine-in only on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023 at all Smokey Bones locations with a valid military ID. A portion of the proceeds will support The Robert Irvine Foundation.
I am grateful for the authentic appreciation showed by many of these businesses. I have not reviewed each offer in detail, but it appears that it wasn’t vetted by staff either.
The Hometown Buffet link directs to their 2019 press release, and “as of January 15, 2021, all Old Country, HomeTown, and Ryan’s Buffet locations have permanently closed…”
And, unfortunately, the Grace for Vets link is dead, and their website no longer mentions which businesses will offer a free car wash to veterans.
I don’t want this to be misunderstood as being a negative comment, but rather share some errors I found and suggest a solution: “trust, but verify.”
Wendy’s disrespectful about veterans Day
Lexington, KY BRU Burger honors veterans with a free meal all day, including drink and with no menu limitations. I ordered a Bison burger, onion rings (side items are normally separate charge), and a drink. The meal had to be >$25. I made sure to tip the waitress appropriately. Please remember waitresses don’t get any extra from their employers and still depend on tips to feed their own families.
I live in Macedonia Ohio,44056. 90 percent or more of the eateries are no where near me. I would have to drive some distance to enjoy a veterans meal. There are a number of places that closed near me, an update is needed.
Any discount or freebie given at this time of need when every thing has sky-rocketed should be accepted gratefully. God bless the vendors an companies who have participated in this program to give some relief no matter how small to the veterans and first responders, remember if you are a veteran or first responder, you are a grown ass person, act like one and try to pay forward anything “GIVIN” to you.
God bless vendors? You’re the only person praising vendors and telling grown ass vets to act like one. On Veterans Day too. Why don’t you act like a grown ass and stop patronizing vets like we’re not grateful.
Many of the links are outdated (some ar five years old).
If you’re going to post the links, ensure they current; otherwise don’t post them.
Thank you for all the info provided here for the vets
Fun fact: servers HATE Veterans Day because a lot of us apparently think if your food is “free” you don’t have to leave a tip. Wrong. You should leave a tip equal to the amount you would have left had you paid full price. Please keep this in mind this weekend, thanks.
Fun Fact: Tipping is not an obligation. It’s based on service provided not the price of the meal. The most expensive and cheapest items on the menu require the same “work” from you.
Perhaps you could be a bit more respectful to the people who make it possible for you to have your job…
I agree. We’re all trying to get the bills paid and I’m sure most servers are living paycheck to paycheck. It’s still a discount on the meal by tipping the 15-20%
I always thank the cashier at a place of business when they give a military discount, and let them know that I appreciate it, because the company doesn’t have to give you anything. it is them showing their application to us for serving our country.
Thank You American for all of your discounts Semper Fi Brothers USMC.
Thank You American for all of your discounts Semper Fi Brothers USMC.
Thanks to all of the corporations for their support to all who served to keep the country free. Semper Fi Brothers and Sisters USMC and all the military branches.
WoW, Appreciated For All ,Happy Veterans Day
Rudy’s Real Texas BBQ in AZ, NM, TX, CO, OK, and FL offers a 10 percent discount for active duty and veterans every day of the year. Maybe not the all-time best BBQ, but they’ve earned my business.
Thank you ? feel really blessed.
Under Armour discount, online is usually 40% during Veteran’s Day.
Thank you for all the free food and discounts given to all veterans, well almost all veterans. How about the veterans who are either sick or injured who cannot physically get in a car to go to establishments like patients in the VA hospital. Are there any establishment going to the hospital and taking the delicious foods to them as they will miss out of these things as they cannot leave the hospital which is like a punishment to them as they did nothing wrong but become I’ll or injured, please help the patients of a rehab or hospitals of the VA
Thanks for the VA putting this list together. Reading some of the comments, not everyone apperars pleased, but then again none of these companies have to do anything for us vets.. We did what had to be done, and we didn’t ask for anything at the time. So to all the companies listed thank you.
it would help if location / city/state. i live in a remote area in N Mich. and this would be of immense help…
The Grace for Vets Carwash link is incorrect, and can’t find a way to find locations [near me].
Quit complaining! Any place that gives a discount could easily not do it and use the extra income to lower employee insurance premiums, increase the 401K match, or just improve the bottom line for investors/owners.
I never understood bitching about a gift.
100% AGREE!
I love the Home Depot discount for veterans year round. Thank You!
I am thankful for any kindness shown to veterans. Like a few here have said, none of these businesses have to do any of this for us.
I am sorry that my WW2 father did not live to see this recognition happening.
Can you PLEASE separate Veteran’s day Discounts by state? It is taking forever to figure where the enterpises that are offering discounts are located. Some are national brands located in all states but some are local only in that state/city.
Based on all the negative Nancy’s and you must spoon feed me babies comments below…links don’t work, business just advertising nothing for veterans, offers out of date, etc… how about if you don’t offer a list at all. Oh, wait, they’d complain about that too. Too bad they are just unhappy, ungrateful, entitled and or self-centered and cannot seem to appreciate the starting point you provide. Maybe if they pulled their head out from a dark place between their legs, they could read the instructions/disclaimer at the beginning.
OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE IN ALL LOCATIONS. VERIFY WITH THE ORGANIZATION OFFERING.
WANT TO ADD/REMOVE A DISCOUNT OR OFFER ON THIS PAGE? CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS. PLEASE INCLUDE DETAILS AND A LINK TO THE OFFER SO WE CAN SHARE IT WITH OUR AUDIENCE.
I’m sure that’s asking too much but figure it’s worth a shot. And to think they were Active Duty once.
you are too smart and squared away for the rest of us grunts, your biting sarcasm and laser like focus on us actually wanting links and the like to work is truly impressive. maybe you should complain to the manager and change your name to Karen
So you’re complaining about someone complaining. Nice work SGT Karen.
So you are happy with the way the VA does such a terrible job of serving veterans.
I am glad I did not serve with you on active duty.
Okay Karen, with the gall to speak about “Nancy’s”. Get a life.
Thank you to all the places that even offer discounts or meals for our military is much appreciated. It’s nice to see that people and places still care about our service to their country and the sacrifices we made. It also shows the younger people that we are human, we do exist, and maybe they may want to join one day. Sincerely, Mark B.
Oh wait..you mean I ACTUALLY get to comment on these???? ok then. Well first off, there is only about 10% of these places that offer free meals and discounts that REALLY do appreciate out service. Most of them ONLY offer these deals and discounts because they FEEL OBLIGATED..not that they want to…I know from first hand. For instance last year I decided to go to Applebees to eat dinner from their “Select” small menu here in Waterville, Maine..The server me and my girlfriend got was the rudest i have ever had at a restaurant. We had to wait about 45 min or so to be seated..and then there were people coming in 20 minutes after us being seated before us which really didnt make sense.Regardless we went along with it and tried to make the best of it..Now dont get me wrong, im not complaining about a free meal..What I am complaining about though is the fact that on Veterans Day, free meal restaurants treat you as if “Since youre getting a free meal, youre not gonna tip”,so why bother trying to make it a pleasant time for you..That is just not right..dont assume just because there is a free meal offered that Veterans dont plan on tipping still..
One other thing too..I think later in that day or evening I went to Dunkin Donuts for a free donut offered..This one in Winslow, Maine and i went inside and there was nobody in there but maybe one or two cars going through drive through..I stood there and literally waitied 10-15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was in there in the lobby and yes I had my Veteran Jacket on..go figure right..See and unfortunately there are only a few places where I live that even really do much on Veterans Day..But the point is the employees that work at these places REALLY dont appreciate us or even wish they had to do anything for us on this one day out of the year..It’s literally called “Obligation” not Appreciation.. Not because these two events I mentioned but other things happened, I actually broke down in tears because i had such a rough and hard Veterans Day last year..I vowed to myself that I would just migrate in my bedroom and almost curl up in a ball and not go anywhere or do anything this year..but im not sure if i really want to let society and the world win..We will see what happens..But Im afraid if i go anywhere or do anything this 11th and have some more major problems I’m liable to flip out or really have a crazy mental break down..
If anyone or other Military members or fellow brother and sisters in arms and Veterans alike have had some of these same similar situations happen to them in the past, please feel free to comment and share..or if you want to comment and tell me its just me and my way of thinking..thats fine too..More power to ya..I just call it how i see it..Ok I think I’m done now..Thanks
Love you brother. Olive Garden NEVER made me feel that way. Try them. Take pride knowing that there is a small brother & sisterhood who appreciates you.
thank you for your post and so sorry that happenened to you…. Thank you for your service… I do want to wish you a Happy Veterans Day My Dad served in the Marine Corps in the 1950s!!! #hoorah
So sorry to hear this happened to you! Sometimes you just get a bad bunch of servers! You should have called back the next day and asked to speak to the boss and told them what happened, a lot of times they hire extra people for special events so try to get there name or names so you can tell the boss and report them. No one should be treated that way.
THANK U TO ALL THE MERCHANTS WHO R PARTICIPATING IN A GREAT GIVEAWAY TO GREAT PEOPLE.
Not all mineckey outlets will give the free oil change. I wonder if they really honor vets. We’ll find out at the American Legion.
Patrick Sean
Thanks to every business that took the time to honor veterans. I had similar experience with Applebee’s but a non veteran customer got impatient waiting for his food because waitress catered to veterans. The waitress kindly told him it was Veterans Day please be patient. I like how Dunkins Donuts and Krispy Creme were right across from each other. I commented for improvement not complaining
Thank you so much for the list, it makes a great jumping point to plan a great day with my Dad. To all you complaining Karens, stop it, you’re embarrassing yourselves.
What are you talking about complaining..? Why bother going to get free meals when they ONLY feel obligated and treat you like shit because its free they think youre not going to tip and treat you as such..Id rather go with a free dam meal than to get stereotyped like that..youre the one embarassing yourself
Amen to that! Thank you for saying something!
Tom – veteran
Thanks for the list, but…………………….
Verizon veteran discount. What a laugh. $1.12 discount, and had to jump through hoops to “reverify”. Reverify, as I had somehow become “not a veteran”. Would have not even bothered if I knew it was just $1.12.
Not sure if something changed but I’ve had a military discount from Verizon for years and it’s never gone away. I get $25 a month (says with 2-3 lines) for my entire bill. That’s $300 a year back in my pocket. I’ve had them for a long time so I’ve reasonably saved a few thousand dollars thanks to that discount. Plus their service has always been fantastic.
Okay, so enough of the Neg. comments without a solution…
If you made a flyer that the veterans could request explaining what you want:
Veterans day specials, discounts, and deals. Give date, city, and state…
What they offer, discount or free…
We the veterans send for 50-100 flyers, you send them to us FREE [It’s a write off anyway] then we go out to the companies and give them a flyer…
You make a database [EASY] with City, State, Company, Discount, etc…
Simple and We ALL WIN!!!
Rev. Ken
Although alot of the deals seem to have expired, they may not actually be expired. The companies just haven’t updated the dates. I reached out to a co company that offered a deal I was interested in and they confirmed the military discount is still valid.
What about the big companies that take away our mony Walmart Wendy Mc Donald Walgreens CVS and more they dont have any for us
Wendy’s has a free breakfast combo!
I don’t think you should put ad’s on this page, if it’s not a veterans discount, Example: “Subway Veterans Day Deal”
“While Subway does not have a specific Veterans Day offer this year, guests can buy any footlong sub and get one free with the promo code FLBOGO on Subway.com or the Subway app.”
These have nothing to do with Veterans or Active Duty personnel, therefore they should not be on this list…
It’s just advertising and there are many…
Rev. Ken
I can agree with you there Ken..Thanks for pointing that out.
Relax, you clicked on the link to see about deals. Stop complaining
…agreed !
Thank you for the great list and thanks to the patriotic suppliers on your list.
I’m a Vietnam Era Vet, live in CT and it’s GREAT that businesses offer discounts, there r many places that offer year round discounts of 10%, Something is ALWAYS better than nothing
Several of the links don’t work and then you can’t find any info on the deal they’re promoting.
I love how Starbucks has a discount and claims that they donate to some patriotic cause, while their union puts out a statement claiming they support Palestine. Where’s those donations really going???
Can’t handle seeing anything that doesn’t agree with your views? What if you had Palestinian relatives? Might you take a different view? You sound like a sensitive snowflake to me.
I see Dunkin’ thinks Friday is Veterans Day ??. Thanks to all the businesses for thinking of us. ???
It is being observed on Friday this year as far as the federal paid holiday goes. Doing the discount then isn’t unreasonable.
Friday the 10th of November is Observed for Veterans Day, due to landing on a weekend. Denny’s is Friday the 10th , also.
You might have looked at last year’s. Dunkin’ is on Saturday the 11th for free donut.
USA gov is getting scamed! A lot of these so called Patriots on this list are here for free advertising saying how great they are for helping veterans! When they want you join some kind of club to receive this special offer (D’anglo,s )good for one example!you are not just scaming the USA gov but all vets! Thanks for another scam.
AMEN, Brother, AMEN…
Thanks for that brother..you get it..Thats exaxctly what most of it is too is just free advertising for them..and then they get Veterans and Military in there for the meals THEY offered and treat you as if youre not going to tip JUST BECAUSE you get a FREE meal..id rather go without then be assumed like that
How long are you going to beat this dead horse?
At least as long as you, Mike. Nice example of hypocrisy. People have a right to air their views and their grievances, You know, what we all allegedly fought to preserve.
That’s wonderful seeing what all is doing giving free food and discounts from many vendors but I have a huge question? What establishment us going to the CA hospitals fiscal the imparients who physical cannot go out if hospital as the they remain a patient there and miss out if all the free food. Is any restaurant bringing there delicious food to the sick and injured while ate in the VA hospital? No, not that I am aware of. If they really want to honor the veterans then also service the ones who cannot get out of the hospital and take them food.
I work in the Senior Care industry. Does anybody know if these restaurants would allow for a family member of an Elder Veteran who is home bound or their professional caregiver to order food and take it to the Elder Veteran? Of course I understand they would need to show proof it’s for an Elder Veteran. Will these restaurants allow this?
Very appreciative of these discounts as an able bodied Veteran, but what about our older generation of Veterans unable to still drive or that are home bound?
This applies to every discount or sale not just vets. Think about a free gift or % off sale in store only – any store. How could reasonably expect that you’d be able to claim it without actually being there.
Appreciate being given the list but this is only for the DC area. What about other states? We don’t all live in DC
[Editor: This list is national.]
only 3 places for discount in juneau, ak
Sir/Ma’am,
I am a disabled combat veteran and am unable to enjoy what these great companies are offering due to my working a graveyard shift and not having that day off. What might be out there for us Veterans in this position?
A new job for you perhaps, If your “job” company whatever will not give you that day off after giving so much they do not deserve you…
Just sayin…
Wake up and unionize.
Thank you so much for the list. It means a lot to me when a business acknowledges veterans; it says a lot about the ownership/management. I am truly grateful for them, whether I am able to the service or not.
Yes it says A LOT about the Corporate owned OWNERS and frachise OWNERS..but says nothing about the actual employees that work there..because they treat you as they wish they didnt have to do this..
This list you provide is the BOMB !!!! Thank y’all so much for compiling this list for Veterans to reference.
I appreciate the list of restaurants & businesses offering free items or a discount. I would have missed out without it.
I am very appreciative of the support that is shown for vets.
Thanks
Useless list.
Everything I clicked on is either out of state or the link is broken.
NEGATIVE! Your comment is useless BS. Appears your own, personal “state” is the prob.
Negative! Your comment is useless and based on ignorant BS. Stop projecting. Some links lead to nothing at all about any Veteran’s Day promotions. I hit two at random myself in less than a half a dozen hits that were worthless links.
Agreed, the list should be broken down by city and state…
ALL links should be checked before posting and should NOT have a bunch of unneeded AD’s…
I sure expect more out of ANYONE building a service orientated website…
Rev. Ken
I am NOT a veteran… please oh PLEASE stop sending emails like this to me Pamela G Smith ! No one in my family or in this household is a veteran!! My father ( born 1917 was a tank commander in WWII
Have you never unsubscribed from an email list before? You don’t do it by clicking on the content link and leaving a comment on a website very few people will see, using a common first and last name. Go back to the actual email, and scroll down to the bottom. There is an unsubscribe link there- click THAT and fill it out, including the email address you want removed.
Great list here
Many thanks to all the vendors kind enough to honor the sacrifice of our military women and men.
BINGO! Accentuate the Positive; IGNORE the Negative “candle snuffers.”
Yes, just be a good sheep and bleat your praises, J.A. Go back to huffing your snuffed candles. Next, you will own nothing and be happily compliant to whatever is tossed in your pen.
Thank you to all places that offer free meals to all veterans and active service personnel! What happened to all the other places in this country that doesn’t recognize veterans. Does that mean that they do not care forveterans
PLEASE NOTE THAT SEVERAL OF THESE COMPANIES ARE TAKING BACK MILITARY DISCOUNTS. LOEWS, HOME DEPOT, NOW REFUSE TO PERMIT DISCOUNT ON ALL APPLIANCES. RED ROOF INN NOW REFUSES TO GIVE DISCOUNT ON MOTELS/ HOTELS AT KENTUCKY DERBY TIME IN LOUISIVILLE!!! MAYBE WE (VETERNS ) SHOULD BOYCOTT THESE COMPANIES FOR 6 MONTHS OR MORE, UNTIL THEY STOP TAKING DISCOUNTS AWAY!! JUST NOT FAIR!!!
I say we boycott ALL businesses. Military and/or US Veterans are not the heroes in todays society..Now the heroes are the ones who are brave enough to change their born gender to the opposite one and come out of the closet..Facts!! we are living in a sick world now but it is what it is..
Discounts are not required by any company. Most veterans are not so entitled that they would boycott a company for not doing something that they don’t have to do in the first place. Know what you are talking about and the why and you will better understand.
Many veterans left the service and became contractors, they start up or work for a company that buys hundreds of thousands of dollars (per year) worth of construction materials. Veterans were using their discount for the company that they work for. The discount is not for other companies to save 10%, it’s for the Veteran to save 10%. Most items are still discounted to Veterans but building materials and appliances have been removed from the list due to abuse.
NOTE: I am not affiliated with any of these companies that give discounts, I am a veteran and instead of complaining, I did some research.
Ridiculous having to read some of these comments. People just look for reasons to b*tch about stuff. Don’t like it, do your own research for your local area. I appreciate any local business that offers us anything. If you have to vent your negativism aim at the businesses that have Veteran Day sales and don’t offer Veterans a nickle – here’s looking at ya Kohls, Target, and a hundred others.
BINGO! Spot on.
My impression of restaurants offering free meals from a small select menu: “Here is a free meal since you fought for our freedom and defended this Country..But screw you..Why treat you nice when you come..Not like youre going to tip anyways because your meal is free”
Does Tim Horton’s serve their “Free” small coffee in a shot glass on Veterans Day?
For An Updated List Go To: https://themilitarywallet.com/veterans-day-free-meals-and-discounts/
I haven’t checked all the links but the ones I did were current with Saturday Nov 11th.
Quit complaining!! These businesses could use these funds to lower employee insurance premiums, increase 401K match, or just keep the profit. They are giving vets a gift and y’all want to find fault.
If you were picked up, escorted to a restaurant and given a prime rib meal, you would have a problem of some type.
Agreed! Stop complaining and just be grateful some businesses care enough to offer something!
Unbelievable! Some of you would complain if you were led by the hand, sat down, and presented with a prime rib dinner. Be grateful for the offers! These places do not have to give us anything.
They could easily take the money they lose from our gifts and use it to decrease employee insurance, improve 401K contributions, or just let it become profit.
Quit your complaining!
Perhaps I’m just too old, but we used to have strict standards back in the day…
You know things work if they didn’t we would fix them, all made with ease of use…
Now if someone suggests fixing a clear issue persons under say 30 yrs old have a fit and want to go to their “Chill-out room” to calm down…
What happened to the MEN in this world???
Good question??
In my day we did things right the first time, it shows the amount of effort you put into something. I’m 31.
Along with a new comment, from me, below, I agree with another person who said, “Please stop wasting my time with broken and useless hyperlinks on this page! If you can’t afford to put any more time and effort into actually validating these veterans’ discounts, then don’t bother posting them here!” Another post below suggested a filter by city. MOST! of the business I see are not even in Salt Lake City, Utah. The office that’s posting this page is just kind of paying “lip service” to veterans about “discounts” by throwing a bunch of things up onto the screen and “feeling good” about how it LOOKS, while it’s not even truly useful or valid. We are not stupid people. And I know you are not in charge of the actual business offers, but I wish you could give them some instant feedback about something (it would require you to do some research and communication with them). This detail of “a select menu” is just a little annoying. A “select menu” is a way of them (again, paying lip-service) seeming to make an offer and a recognition, but at the very least cost to themselves: a hamburger, fries and drink from a steak place, for instance. Nooo, I do NOT mean to be ungrateful. I am NOT expressing unappreciation, I’m just saying that if these places wanted to recognize people for which they said they admire for some reason, they don’t have to do it as CHEAPLY as possible.
Well if you don’t approve of their “lip service”, stay home!!! No one said you actually had to participate!! And save the negative comments for the rest of the complaining Karens who want to hear them, not those of us who actually APPRECIATE what is offered!!
@Tom – I think you are responding the “surface” look of this list, but when a person tries to dig deeper and find out the unstated mystery locations or click on hyperlinks that are broken and don’t go anywhere, or other glitches in the list and-and-and … you would understand the frustrations. The list “looks good” but it’s almost useless. And I’m not the first one nor the only one to say that. My comment was not rare or uncommon. There are many other comments on here which are similar. And many/most of them are written by males, so you pulling the sexist “Karen” insult on mine is a jerk move. Go to a similar comment as mine posted by a “Tom-Dick-or-Harry” and see if you can shoot it down for some reason about them being like a woman/Karen-or-not? Haha. Or… you could kinda stick with the FACTS, Dick. Err… Tom… what was your name again, sorry?
Freaking great Pam.
The float spa one is the best imo. Just wish they had it available in Tucson.
Thanks to all the Company’s. who give us Vets anything is a help and appreciated by this Veteran love and God Bless !!!
AMEN, Brother, AMEN…
Great comment! Thank you!
Note that some restaurants specify “Friday, November 11” as the date of their specials. November 11 is a Saturday. This is likely to lead to some unpleasant confusion.
Thank you for the information
Thanks VA For all you do. still needs more work.
Office Depot has no discount listed. Thanks for the rest!
I’m a Vietnam Era Vet, live in CT and it’s GREAT that businesses offer discounts, there r many places that offer year round discounts of 10%, Something is ALWAYS better than nothing
Please stop wasting my time with broken and useless hyperlinks on this page! If you can’t afford to put any more time and effort into actually validating these veterans’ discounts, then don’t bother posting them here!
It’s free to check out yourself your so entitled it’s reeks Karen
When you were on active duty, did they issue you the “let me speak to the manager haircut” or did you have to buy that for yourself?
AMEN, Brother, AMEN…
May I suggest an enhancement to this list? A FILTER would be awesome! More work, I know. But perhaps, at least, by State? City or County would be AMAZING but probably very difficult. Just an idea.
Ok, the list has issues. When a link is good, say so here. When it isn’t, say so. Otherwise each person has to go through the hassle, again. You could help the next person.
I can recommend Applebees. Golden Corral. Cracker Barrel. Olive Garden. IHOP. Red Robin. Ruby Tuesdays. Red Lobster. Wendy’s. Denny’s. Starbucks. Taziki. Every single year they come through. Someone asked about Golden Corral. Their site says their meal is Mon the 13th
5 p.m. to close. I don’t know others. Just call the one you want man, to double check the date and times. Click the link, most have “locations” to click on, a map, and the local phone number. Chill out. Enjoy! ~
Some bad or old links
Thanks for the list. It does need to be updated, but how many people whining have sent in corrections?
Corrections, yeah rite! Do we have any mortarmen in this chat? What happened if you made a mistake while plotting your coordinates? Did someone give you corrections? lol. Make it right the first time. The amount of effort put into this list reflects the effort VA puts into our veterans 0.
Moral of the story buy some steaks at your local supermarket and make them at home.
Thank you so much to the many Retailors & Restaurants who offer our Military Veterans so many Valuable Discounts for the Services we’ve given to America!
God Bless You,
Mike Malloy
Another almost worthless and out of date list. A majority of the businesses don’t list any specials and go to the business website only. Or the special being offered is questionable. For instance, Red Robin lists a special on Veteran’s Day, Friday, Nov. 11. The problem is that Veteran’s day this year is on Saturday. At best, this is last years list, making any offers suspect. Best to check your local news sources for accurate info.
At least someone is taking the initiative to provide us information. If you can do a better job Hugh, then do it, don’t just complain. Use that same amount of energy you’re using to complain and make things better.
A worthless and out of date list. Some of the places listed might be offering meals and/or discounts, but don’t count on it. A majority of the links don’t list any specials or are only to the business websites only. Whoever is managing this list did a lousy job.
Thank you for the list. It is appreciated by me and I let other veterans know about it before Veteran’s Day.
Most everyone in Massachusetts hates veterans. When asking for a military discount, plan on some entitled millennial giving you the eye roll. It is best to just stay home or spend some time with fellow veterans. Seer Fi.
Confusing as verbena day is Saturday but government is certainly on Friday so some ads need correction or specification. Thank you to those offering discounts as this is one military guy who appreciates it
They don’t deserve to live in the USA. Or take away ALL government benefits they receive and let them survive on there own. You don’t deserve to live in the USA.
I’d purposely go with Vet buddies to these places. If you get the eye roll, ask them if they speak fluent German, Japanese, or language of our former or current enemies. When they say “No”, say “From past and present veterans, Your welcome!”
Thank you brother..couldnt have said it better myself..I’m up in Maine and now WEE are not the heroes anymore..now it is the new millenials who are brave enough to change their gender and come out of the closet..THAT is what a hero is in todays generation..and THAT is a FACT..Now, id like to see someone say im complaining now too because what i said and what you said steve is both 100% accurate.
Not too sure about the validity of this list. It may say updated November 2, 2023 at the bottom, but the last I checked, Famous Dave’s went out of business in the Spring. Outside of that, there are only 10 places in Bozeman, MT that are on the list, and most are fast-food.
Most of the other “Services” list already give the “Military Discount” year round.
Famous Dave’s still is in business where I live and doing great. Line outside the door whenever I go past.
Very well said….. I get veterans discount from Bomgaars and appreciate their thanks for us protecting the constitution that gives everyone their rights and freedoms we served trying to protect,
Thank you so very much for compiling this list each year. I take full advantage of it and even when I verify with my local businesses (or those local to where I am when on travel) it saves me tons of time over if I had to do it myself from scratch. To all the whiners and complainers – get over yourselves, ya big babies. Follow the suggestions and check whether your local establishment is honoring their corporate commitment. For those complaining about it not being specific ‘Veteran’s Day’ specials? I’m so sorry you are getting a discount all year instead of just one day, but don’t you dare ruin a 7/365 thank you for the rest of us that ARE appreciative.
Well said. I am very proud of all the sponsors and thankful for them as well.
Being part of a 7 generation military family, I remember my youth and zero support for any veterans until the 21st century. I cry every time I see any support for veterans today. Fifty years without acknowledgement we even exist. If you complain about anything…shame. Have any of you complainers ever been to Ft Rosecrans in SanD. or Arlington? If you can stand at either place and still complain you have no blood flowing through your vains. It is what it is, love it or split. Complain in Afghan where my daughter became disabled. Complain in the middle east where my grandson is serving. See what it gets you. I pray God softens your heart before he takes your last breath. Enjoy this day cause these are today’s good ol’ days you’re gonna miss tomorrow.
I am Chuck, a brother submariner, (Blue Nose Boomers from (1961 – 1970). I totally agree with you Mac, there are too many complaining whiners today. God Bless all my brother submariners and may God Bless the USA and Israel.
Great comment! Thank you!
! Surprise, Burger King? McDonalds?
Both places worship the obese, poor, and unemployed yet not so much for the veteran.
AMEN, Brother, AMEN…
The burger king near us gives 10% everyday. Ask when you go. Also Lowes gives military, veterans and their families 10% off every day as well. It’s not on everything like clearance and I think wood. I always check if discount applies by adding to my cart online.
Many places give 10% all the time to Veterans, GOD Bless them, even if it’s just a write-off to them…
100% Agree!
THANKS TO ALL======AND PEASES TO ALL IN THIS TROUBLED TIMES
I’m reading the comments, and for the nay sayers, please read the disclaimer at the beginning of the article:
“Offers are subject to change and may not be available in all locations. Verify with the organization offering.”
I think this says it all. Stop reading with the intent of being critical, if you can’t offer a solution. I’m just convinced that there are people, who’d be crying hungry with a loaf of bread in their hands.
We could easily help them with this list if we ALL work together…
They make a Flyer, we give them to all the businesses in our area, they input into database, call once a year to make sure the link is still good, done everybody wins…
Rev. Ken
Spoke with a Denney’s server last week and they haven’t completed the details for the free Veteran’s breakfast other than it will be a Grand Slam. The server did say they were looking at doing it on Friday Nov. 10 instead of Sat. Nov 11. I would suggest to give your local Denny’s a call ahead of time to verify which day it will be.
Thank you for compiling the list! If I spot a submission that needs updating, I’ll use the form located at the top of the page, as suggested, instead of complaining about the ‘inconvenience’.
Thank you to the businesses that offer freebies and show appreciation to vets! I always feel humbled and grateful for the recognition.
Thank you to the servers who bring us the freebies – that large tip we leave is for you guys! ;) If any of you don’t tip based on the full pre-discount price of your order… SHAME ON YOU! Yes, I’ve seen it happen.
Thank you to all of the vets that appreciate the freebies and don’t EXPECT them, as if the world owes you something! I’m sure Mommy still gives you a binky when you whine.
See? That wasn’t so hard, was it? Smdh at these comments I’m reading….
Spot on, Sacha, Spot On!
Maybe the lack of tip was from the Veterans that are homeless, or close to it!!
Not even close Rev. Ken! Many of the poor tippers are well-off, ENTITLED veterans who make more income from their VA bennies than the rest of the nation and still complain about no one honoring veterans! And I’ve watched several POSERS with a rando BDU cap screaming for their military discount and can’t even say validate their claim for being a veteran! Don’t believe the hype!
Thank you Sacha! Well said!
I cannot believe all the negative comments I’ve read in this thread. I have experienced nothing other than welcoming vibes from the servers at establishments offering these freebies. I remember the attitudes and reception we received when we came back from Vietnam. Many of us did not acknowledge that we had been there even to people we knew. When I finally joined a support group after 45 years the first time I walked in I knew almost half of the group. These free meals offer more than free food as they give us an opportunity to meet others in our elite group. It’s time we should be grateful that we live in this great country that now recognizes our service and sacrifice. Thank you.
THIS NEEDS TO BE UPDATED! No idea what ones are valid for this year. Some are dead links, some list dates from previous years. Could be very embarrassing trying to claim an offer when it is not valid anymore!
These promotions for vets are not current, some do not offer them any longer and do not support what they are offering . Please remove them or make their offers current. It was a horrible mess last year , to wait in line to only find out they were not offering it any longer.
They have a ‘contact us’ link at the very top to help update information. Use it.
Quit whining and go to Applebee’s where they’ve always done this and you get a five dollar gift card to come back
I take advantage of all that the VA gives us Veterans. Thank you for the list
Thank you for making this list of discounts and free B’s for us! J Downing
I can’t believe all the complaining and whining about different aspects of this list. First off, nobody owes us veterans anything. We served (at least I did) out of the love & respect I have for the USA. If asked, I would do it all over again. Here’s an idea…if you want to go somewhere on veterans day, or before, simply call the business and ask if they are having any deals. No list is ever going to be perfect for everyone, but I truly appreciate whomever took the time to put together this list. Thank you, and God bless the USA. Greatest country on earth.
Amen to that Steve! Same here! We served for the love of God and Country, not special recognition!
Steve, Right On! I also severed for love of country. Any freebies are much appreciated but are not an entitlement.
Thank you for all these businesses that support veterans and active duty. My husband and I look forward to this day every year . We take advantage of these specials and being retired and on Social Security , who wouldn’t? The world is hard enough economically so thank you with gratitude . No complaints from us!
I like to thank all the places for the discounts and restaurants that participate in this day for all of us veterans and their families . God Bless . Let’s remember all our veterans on this special day that wasn’t as blessed to be here too celebrate this special day.as we are . So be thankful and don’t complain Amen ?
Yes Chuck, AMEN!
Yea, how dare they not just email me with offers in my state and if I’m unavailable just zelle me the cash. The nerve of these people is appalling:P
Just did a legit Mutley laugh…
Thumbs up! LMAO
I think it’s sad and inappropriate for people to whine and complain about others involved trying to keep veterans informed. Whether the info is up-to-date, or have slight errors, I completely appreciate the initiative.
Thank you.
couldn’t find golden corrals date or time of free meal….
Thank You for the work that went into this listing but you have left off at least two companies that should be listed – first off Lowes (you have Home Depot – Lowes is the same set-up but easier to use). Another that should be here is Tandy Leather, they have a very generous discount equal to their best annual purchase discount.
They have a ‘contact us’ link at the very top to help update information. Use it.
Thank you for this great list even thou some are no longer in business. It would be nice if we could get take out for those vets that are not able to walk or are homebound. I asked last yr & 3 places said no. I purchased the meal from his favorite place & told him that it was free.
This list may have some problems, but it’s a good starting point. I would like to suggest that if there’s incorrect info it might be from the source (vendor). If I had a business and saw a list like this, I would make an effort to see that my name was on it with the current deal. I have taken advantage of these discounts for over 10 years and I don’t think any company has offered a better deal than Golden Corral. And I noticed their deal was clearly written with accurate dates. I lived in Sherman Tx for a while and can say that Texas Roadhouse (there at least) offered a healthy discount year round. I appreciate any discounts a business gives, but my experience has shown these two are very serious about it. And it is correct that BOTH Lowe’s and Home Depot give 10% discounts everyday. There are also locals that are serious about it that aren’t mentioned, such as Frescos Grill in Ada, Ok who give a 20% discount year round, but a little personal research will uncover some that are sincere but may not know about this annual info., or care. How many veterans from Ada are going to see this list. It’s a starting point.
The List is quite impressive and shows a plethora of sources for many things. I think it might be more helpful to all the Vets out there to have the list sorted by STATE, as an alpha listing as shown will require an extensive investigation of the listing to find the states in which they are offered.
Ron Thomas,
There are not many that have lived in Sherman, TX. I was there 1967 to 1969 at Perrin AFB. There wasn’t much there then. Several of us USAF lived at Concord Village, Sherman, TX in shared apartments. The base has been closed for a long time and is now a regional airport. I have never returned there and have no plans to do such. I do like Texas a lot and the people there were great.
I would like to hear your experiences there. I was a controller at Martha Control, a radar AC&W site just off Perrin AFB entrance. Perrin was a training base for F-102 Pilots back then. Left in 1969 to go to Tan Son Nhut Vietnam to 619th TAC.
Handy list to work from. Even with the long list it doesn’t take long to identify those within acceptable mileage from my home. I hit about a dozen of the free coffee, donuts, and meal offerings last year. I know you have disclaimers like “list will continue to be updated as we learn of more nationally available Veterans Day discounts”, and “Offers are subject to change and may not be available in all locations. Verify with the organization offering.” Some of the offers I’m interested in have been updated to 2023, but actually most have not since they refer to 2022, and even earlier. My suggestion is that when you do have an update to the current year that you tag the listing with an asterisk, or by some other simple means. Thanks for your work.
I appreciate the VA putting this list together. I never take advantage of any of the discounts but it means alot seeing those that offer them. Last April, the VA granted me 100% P&T for my PACT ACT claim and that’s what I really needed.
THE LIST
IT WOULD HELP IF THEY WERE BROKE DOWN BY STATE
THANKS
AMEN, Brother, AMEN…
I take full advantage of this list THANK YOU!!!
I can’t believe how many people are complaining about this list… too long, the font is too faint, some of the offers aren’t specific to Veterans Day but are available all year long (God forbid!), or that YOUR specific restaurant did a poor job last year…or they don’t have any restaurants that are organic!
I take advantage of several of these freebies and discounts, but I feel kind of guilty doing so.
I suppose that’s better than the whiners and the b-tchers on here.
Thank You for the list….
You don’t have to participate in these discounts, but when you do remember the guy or gal serving you could also be a veteran.
Any business willing to offer discounts for us the veterans and their families, are willing to show that in some way the respect our service and in some small way giving back.
Thank you to all of the big businesses and the family run community places that say “thank you for your service”
Wow. What’s the definition of “entitled”? I can’t remember…
Really? You consider a free/discounted meal “entitled” for serving?
I’d be willing to bet he’s referring to the ungrateful twats that complain about the freebies instead of just saying thank you.
I think you’re right Sacha lol
Roger that brother!
Thank you for compiling this extensive list. However, I did notice that a few of them, (such as Applebees for one), the links take us to prior years ads, or else the links are broken and Page Not Found appears. Frustrating, but not insurmountable. We just need to improvise, adapt and overcome when searching for Military/Veterans discounts. Thanks again!
Thank you for compiling this list! I appreciate the effort.
Did you validate your list of restaurants offering meal deals to Veterans? Obviously not! There are broken links and some of the offers are from five years ago. Are they still valid? You can do better, you should do better.
If you are going to publish names of places offering vet day meals the LEAST you could do is update the list, many do not exist and others reference a free meal in 2018 and others in 2022 ..
Pretty poor performance all around by whoever put this together,
Why are you complaining maybe you should do it or already help out
This is wonderful that you took the initiative to put this together. I am very grateful and feel that all of the supporters should be proud and feel proud.
Thanks again for your time and effort to make sure we’re going to be able to celebrate ?
Folks, stop complaining…… Your not still in the military (majority of us). Please take this as a token of gratitude from those who are providing these services!!!!!!!!! Complaining and truing to get the donors to change their offering just for little you!!!!!! If you keep complaining and moaning and think that will work….. IT WILL NOT!!!!! Keep it up and we will for sure see more of these donors give up and not participate.
When you go to take advantage of these services, they always tell us, Thank You For Your Service!!!!! with a huge smile and great sincerity. Maybe it is time if you don’t already do (as I do) Thank them for being there and serving us and thank them for their gratitude for us and share your GREAT GRATITUDE FOR THEM AND THEIR COMPANY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True fact! This is why Home Depot does not give 10% off on a lot of items anymore, because veterans took advantage of it. They would use the discount and purchase materials for their business.
Great comment! Thank you!
Why are all of these discounts for 2022 and before, and not 2023, which is this year? It’s hard to trust this newsletter when all of the links were for last year’s Veteran’s Day.
OK, sooo next year we look foreword to your updated list, STOP YOUR COMPLANING!!!!!
The list is as good as the what is reported to the people working to provide.
I wish there were a filter by location or proximity to a Zip code. So many options, trees hidden in a forest.
BTW, always call first (even if it is on your way), since many of these are standard pricing, or have forms to fill out, or elaborate exclusions, such as ‘not all stores’, ‘not all meals’, etc.
Some just seem to be click-bait.
sigh.
I was JUST thinking that. ugh…. :) Maybe they want us to make a decision first then look at the list. wow….
Please ignore all the negative comments. GOD loves us all, I thank you for sharing the information and look forward to the email each year.
Thank you!
Very disappointed with Applebees in Rockwall Tx, they approved my military free meal only to find out at checkout time that the entree that I ordered was not on the selected menu offered to military veterans. No one told me of the selected menu until after the meal and after talking to the manager all he did was apologize. Thank you, my wife and I eat out a lot and have never been back to Applebees since
Just reorder from the selected menu and take it home. Manager can’t say no…
EPIC Ski pass is also a very good deal. Milirary passes. https://www.epicpass.com/pass-results/military.aspx
Click on Applebees. 2018 menu, explains they have been giving free meals for 10 years since 2008 and asks us to be there next year. I guess we have to call these establishments to find if they are still participating.
Many of these are not Veterans Day specific…they are discounts offered year-round. I know your main objective was probably to make this list as long as possible so that it looked like you worked hard but all you’re doing is making it harder to find actual Veterans Day discounts.
Sorry they told you where to get free and discounted things. That must suck.
LMAO!!! Finally a dose of reality amongst all the naysayers.
For ALL of you COMPLANING all you need to do is pick up the phone and call the business to verify if they are offering anything for Veterans Day OR just Don’t Participate, NO ONE WILL MISS YOU!!!!
We have more then enough NEGITAVES IN THIS WORLD W/O YOU ALL ADDING TO IT!!!!
Obviously you weren’t in comms in the military……..
lol so true.
Well appreciated SemperFi
WHY MUST THE FONT BE SO FAINT?? IT’S HARD ENOUGH TO BE SO LONG, BUT IT’S A STRAIN ON THESE OLD EYES TO READ IT. PLEASE USE A DARKER FONT.
It would really be nice if it would say which STATES and CITIES. Most of the places I’ve never heard of.
Chili’s alone has over 1,200 locations. It would be impractical.
You are doing a great service by publishing this discount list, thank you!
Thank you for putting this together!
Is there any way to filter by state or otherwise list locations?
This list was clearly not thoroughly vetted and edited. You’ve posted a story that is nothing but a waste of time for anyone interested in factual information regarding Veterans Day 2023. Dead links, story’s from Veterans Day 2022, WTH is going on with you people?! Compiling a simple, accurate, up to date list should not be too difficult a task for any aspiring journalist. You have failed.
They work for the VA…”aspiring” isn’t a word in their dictionary.
While I was in Vietnam where were you? You are just like the younger generation, everything for me, just b-tch someone will yield to my tears. Some people are never happy.
Well said I thank them for everything they do for us no matter how small thanks to all those company’s who do step up GOD BLESS!!!
STOP COMPLAINING!!!! WHY THEN DONT YOU PUT THE LIST TOGETHERB IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER!!
WE ALL LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR UPDATED LIST IN TIME FOR VETRANS DAY 2023!!
Chipotle is not offering a Veterans Day freebie in 2023
It would be nice if this data were sorted by states and type of business.
“Abuelo’s Veterans Day Deal
All locations will donate $1 to Honor Flight for each Chile con Queso and Queso Diablo appetizer sold.”
Some of these are downright insulting to those who served everywhere. These guy here will donate a whopping dollar for each super specific appetizer sold. BIG SPENDERS
{lease don’t look at it that way, but rather that they choose to do something, even if it’s a pittance. How many big retailers and fast-food chains aren’t on the list at all, indicating they’re the ones who truly don’t give a rat’s a$$. You already know how the whole vet-appreciation thing works anyway, where they offer lip-service on Veterans Day, maybe through November, and the other 11 months a year silence in word and action.
Majority of these places are east coast only. Maybe 2 or 3 apply to WA state. (NOT DC) just in case that needed saying. And why is this list not actually working? The links are either dead or inactive, frustrating.
My favorite is the “free kids scope” cuz veterans are kids lmao. Love these businesses using Veterans to promote their business while offering the minimum. Super sweet, I feel appreciated. Good thing the deals isn’t why we do it lol..lol.
It seems like more than a few of these are based on old press releases, broken website links, or incorrect information. Does anyone go through and confirm they are current for 2023
It would be nice if your article would give at least a hint of where these specials and discounts are located. It doesn’t really do me any good to know a restaurant in Massachusetts is offering free meals to Veterans, when I live in Idaho!
don’t know if you have a wendys in your town?
…and you wonder why people question the VA. Take time to verify the list. Aspen Tap House data is from a 2021 article and Cracker Barrel data is from a Oct 2020 article.
Not only are you Biased (you are missing Lowe’s but you have HomeDepot) but most of your links are dead or for last years deal. Please update your list before sending it out in an email.
I see no organic restaurants. We haven’t eaten our in years. Too expensive and no organic.
Please stop eating the restaurants.
Hahaha. This <3
This site is so the VA can say they are informing Veterans and others of offers. Then VA gets more Federal Money for cut and pasting information that is not vetted or dated true. Sadly, someone cutting corners on the JOB our tax dollars pay them to do.** Be honest and up to date with information. **
And btw, paperwork for move has been submitted to VA here. Don’t know if it’s been processed yet but it has been submitted, Tks again, Doug
I think you’ve posted this to people who don’t care. You need to send that to your PCP at the BA
What Larry said, this list is almost completely out of date. Somebody copy and paste from last year and not update the text or the links. Poor performance, unsatisfactory.
I have moved. Could you please send me a list of veterans affairs happening on vets day for this area, and change anything that’s VA news. Email is same. Ty, Doug
This is not a current list. Some of the links did not work at all, and some were for “Friday, Nov. 11,” although this year, Nov. 11 is on a Saturday.
I found the same! Not a current list!
Look the locations up. If none is in your area it means stay home.
Some people.
Many of the Links don’t work!!
Also the list being sent by state would help.
For those saying we are “complainers” we have a right to express how we feel.
Yes, it’s the thought that counts and any discount or ‘free items’ are appreciated. However, some Links don’t work, offers out of date, and when I called for more information for these ‘special’ veteran discounts the customer representatives have told me something different or said service only goes in hand with another purchase… etc.
The person making this list should do better. We veterans didn’t do a half job when we served. Is it too much to ask that we get an up to date and complete list state by state? It’s not much to ask. Hire me and I’ll do it.
I love it when businesses show veterans appreciation, it feels amazing.
GalSG is right! Being an IT executive I know it’s not that hard to add a drop down box by State to help filter all these companies. Also, as a Quality Mgr the links not working are an easy test prior to publishing. The public asked us to do our best while serving so should you. btw – not only do some of the links not work, but some are either not giving discounts or require you to purchase an entree in order to get a dessert (false advertising!) for instance ‘Chipolte’ is not even offering a discount.
