Every two years, the Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) fields the Military Family Support Programming Survey. This national study provides a comprehensive look into the support needs of military-connected families. The results help capture what matters most to our nation’s military and Veterans.

All members of military households aged 18 years or older are encouraged to participate, including active duty military personnel, Veterans and their spouses.

The survey covers topics like childcare, employment, family relationships, financial readiness, food insecurity, health and well-being, housing and military-to-civilian transition.

Why participate?

The data and stories collected not only shape the narrative around Veteran life but set the agenda for VA leaders, lawmakers, advocates and community providers. Through this survey, respondents have the unique opportunity to amplify their lived experiences and inform Veteran-centered programs, policies and resources.

Many recent advancements in Veteran support have spawned from research findings. The PACT Act was signed into law to provide care for toxic-exposed Veterans. There has been increased attention and funding for mental health care and suicide prevention. The President signed an executive order to strengthen access to high-quality care and support caregivers of wounded, ill or injured Veterans. And there are currently proposals to increase Veteran eligibility for federal food and nutrition assistance programs. These are all results of your input.

But over time, research becomes stale and needs change. That’s why MFAN is depending on your feedback to not only ensure we are addressing recurring pain points, but also staying ahead of the emerging issues in the Veteran community.

My experience with the VA has been great (American Lake – Tacoma, WA). I have found a Veteran needs to sit down with all the booklets and paperwork and read it carefully. It is a big complex system – often underfunded by Congress.

Yes Suzane, you can! There will probably be a lot of questions, like current income from a job or other… questions like that or if you own a lot of property, but don’t give up. They will want to know of your age and any disabilities. My mother is 91 and disabled and when my father passed away in 2012, she was left with his military pension (A&A) and she also get Social Security as she is also disabled. Life can be hard with out any kind of support, especially family and finances. Best to you Suzanne <
