The November 2014 unemployment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that Veterans as a whole are doing better than non-Veterans. Gulf War II Veteran unemployment rate decreased this month, but is still .2 percent higher than non-Veterans.

The 12-month rolling averages show that Veterans and non-Veterans overall are doing better than they were a year ago. Compared to last month, 
Veteran unemployment rates decreased by .183 and non-Veteran unemployment rates decreased by .075.

From October to November 2013, Gulf War II Veteran unemployment rates decreased by .1 percent, consistent with this year’s decreased. From October to November 2013, non-Veteran unemployment rates decreased by .4, inconsistent with this year’s decrease. Overall Veteran unemployment rates decreased from October to November 2013, inconsistent with this years no change.

Women Veterans
From October to November 2013 unemployment rates for women Veterans remained the same, inconsistent with this year’s increase of .4 percent. Non-Veteran women unemployment rates decreased from October to November 2013 and 2014.

Gulf War II women Veterans specifically are fairing worse than non-Veteran women despite this month’s decrease of 3.1 percent, which is consistent with the previous year. Women Veterans as whole are doing slightly worse than their non-Veteran counterparts. All women Veterans unemployment rate is .6 higher lower than non-Veteran women.
Male Veterans
Male Veterans as a whole are doing better than their non-Veteran counterparts. November marks the fourth concurrent month since May 2012 that the male Veteran unemployment rate was equal to or lower than non-Veteran males. This month the male Veteran unemployment rate increased .2 percent and sits 1.2 percent lower than non-Veteran males.

From October to November 2013, Gulf War II male Veteran unemployment rates increased by .3 percent which is inconsistent with this month’s .9 percent decrease. The November Gulf War II male Veteran unemployment rate is .3 percent higher than their non-Veteran counterparts.
Online Employment Assistance
In April, VA launched the Veterans Employment Center, a new online platform which supports transitioning service members, Veterans, and their spouses looking for new career opportunities. This site helps simplify the job search process by providing the most important online career tools within government in one place. This tool is a result of collaboration between the Department of Defense, Department of Labor, Office of Personnel Management, Small Business Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Job seekers can use the “military skills translator” to match military career tracks with civilian occupations and critical skills, create and upload a resume online, and find public and private job openings in a single search. Employers are provided with a direct feed of resumes from Veteran applicants, can view reverse skills translation (military to civilian skills) for applicants, and can make public their own Veterans hiring goals.

Some are impressive improvements. As for “… Veterans as a whole are doing better than non-Veterans …” I think that comes down to a certain “fighting spirit” that comes with having been battle-hardened 8as long as PTSD does not get in your way or can be kept in check). And I could imagine many employers would tend to trust an ex-soldier more implicitly to fit into a team and be an honest player than someone with a non-descript work history.
Why are the people who have served the country not being helped out?? All they want is A Job to sustain themselves. doing away with veterans to create more jobs for the others is just too bad.
I DID NOT ASK TO BE PERMANENTLY & TOTALLY DISABLED, that was a decision made by my doctors at the VETERANS Administration. According to the news the economy is expected to grow by 3.8%; what good will our 1.7% raise do us then? I am thankful that I get what I do, however even at Walmart milk has risen 48cents in the last 3 months. the government, not just the president, all of our elected officials, sit in their offices and seem to not even care about the American public. We elect them sometimes because we have no better choice. I think it’s time that we clean out every elected official and start brand new! Talk about creating new jobs, how about we start at the very top Anderlecht completely new officials!

Why do u count temporary job offices number? They don’t have pay unemployment, the company’s use these services after 89 day thier let go company rehires other to take over, yes msng jib open nov and Dec , Dec 31 thier done temporary for Xmas help. Employer can’t give the hrs in jan-may college kids work may -Aug , it starts all over again. Temporary job office will report state if u can’t make for work, uneployment screws u fight get why it happen, then by that time were in the hole.
I was offered a job and then taken away the VA is a Joke and it is killing men and woman that served this country.
I am a local handyman and would like to assist veterans with there household repairs to make there lives better. I DO NOT HAVE FUNDS TO BUY MATERIALS BUT CAN SUPPLY MY LABOR AND KNOLEDGE
