There are thousands of U.S. Veterans transitioning out of the military each year. However, many lack the training and network to identify the best available opportunities in the civilian world. In fact, in 2014, there were almost 573,000 Veterans unemployed in our country.

A big technology company is doing some big things for these Veterans and their family members.

Salesforce, Forbes Magazines’ World’s Most Innovative Company for four years, is dedicated to helping make the transition a little smoother. In 2014, Salesforce launched the VetForce program after identifying a serious gap between the growing number of cloud jobs and the ready supply of Salesforce-certified professionals, e.g. administrators, developers, and business analysts.

VetForce’s mission acknowledges that the thousands of Veterans transitioning from the military each month are some of the world’s most talented and hardworking individuals, but that they may lack the technical training to gain the best possible opportunities available to them. VetForce aims to bridge that gap by creating employment opportunities throughout our ecosystem and helping Veterans gain the proper training and certification for those roles.

VetForce NavySpecifically, VetForce is making available ~$4500 worth of Salesforce training to Veterans and their family members at no cost. Salesforce is using software from Veteran-led company, RockTech, the software platform issued by large companies to help employees train on/use cloud-based business software like Salesforce, Oracle, and SAP.

Veterans are already seeing success with VetForce. Many have gained employment that is not only satisfying, but also extremely lucrative.

In the US, the average wage is about ~$47,000 per year. Salesforce jobs on average start around the $60,000 per year range. Some Salesforce-skilled jobs pay well into six figure salaries. Thousands of these jobs are currently posted on sites including LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Simply Hired and Career Builder.
