The VA Careers social sites, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, offer valuable insight into the questions people have about working at the Department of Veterans Affairs. One of the questions often asked is: “I am not a Veteran. Does that mean I can’t be employed by VA?” Many wonder if we only hire Veterans for open positions. The answer is, while we support and encourage Veterans to apply for positions with VA, we owe it to our Veterans to employ the most qualified individuals to care for them, whether they are Veterans or not.
The Veterans Health Administration represents 150 medical centers and nearly 1,400 clinics and other points of care across the country. VESO develops and implements innovative and comprehensive programs, procedures and services to support federal Veteran recruitment and VA retention and reintegration.
