I didn’t know Hawaii was not a part of the United States, anymore. Being that Pearl Harbor is in Hawaii and every branch of the military with thousands of soldiers living in Hawaii, you would think Hawaii wouldn’t be overlooked, again. Wow, some things never change.

I began a Veterans Day Program at the Carter County High School, in Ekalaka, MT, in 2008. We have held the program every year since, except 2012, and had a tremendous response from the community. We need to have these events so that our students realize the importance of our veterans and those serving today.

      How About WWII?

  35. Jeff Worthen November 8, 2015 at 15:53

It’s a shame that the VA (Veteran Asassins) here in Boise, Idaho are out to kill its veterans and will not admit how poor the entire medical staff is. When you have issues and they bring in misfit specialist who give you an answer of “I don’t know what to do” and they leave it at that and the VA doesn’t care to figure out how to care for the problem, it’s pretty sad. This VA has a lot to be desired! Absolutely the poorest health care VA in the USA I have seen.

  36. Philip Rodriguez November 8, 2015 at 11:22

There are no activities listed for Puerto Rico. The territories of the USA should be included in the list of activities for veterans day.

In addition to their Annual Awards Banquet the evening before and their World Peace Luncheon on the morning of the 11th; they also have the oldest and longest parade in the nation.

I had the pleasure of going to the Greenville, SC VA Outpatient Clinic store and purchasing two hats for veterans in our church. One was a Korean vet the other Vietnam. I also put together certificates that the congregation will write thank you for your service notes on the back. These items will be presented to the vets in our Wed. evening church service. I encourage everyone to consider what they can do to say thanks to those who put it all on the line by risking their lives for us. – Rev Keith Wright USCG (Ret.) and Chaplain
