VA Secretary Bob McDonald and Deputy Secretary Sloan Gibson greeted employees as they entered VA Central Office
“This is one of those days where you think of things that are bigger than yourself,” said McDonald. “Today, by recognizing the employees of the VA, we are reminding everyone of that wonderful mission we have of caring for those that have borne the battle and their families.”
Celebrated the first week of May since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week is organized annually by the Public Employees Roundtable to honor the men and women who serve our nation as government employees.
“Our Nation’s progress has long been fueled by the efforts of selfless citizens who come together in service to their fellow Americans to change our country for the better,” said President Obama, in his proclamation regarding Public Service Recognition Week.
