#VeteranOfTheDay Army Veteran Cecil H. Martin

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Cecil H. Martin. Cecil served during the Korean War.

Cecil came from a hard-working family from Arkansas. When he was young, his whole family moved to California to work as farm hands in the fields. By 1951, Cecil was working a union job and making a good living for himself. When the union went on strike, Cecil was forced to join the Army and fight in the Korean War.

During his time in the war, he helped save a platoon whose radio broke down and survived a lethal attack that left very few survivors. After the war, he returned back to the U.S. and started a family. He currently resides in Roseburg, Oregon.
