The Oklahoma City bombing took place 22 years ago today, at approximately 9:02 am. According to the FBI, domestic terrorists responsible for the bombing took 168 lives that day, including 19 children, and injured several others.
Many private citizens, community and federal organizations came together in the moments that followed to assist the victims of this tragedy. Staff members from the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System immediately responded after this incident to provide support and services to the victims and other agencies.
From deploying a triage team to the site of the bombing and providing needed medical supplies to taking in casualties and sending clinicians to area hospitals – their commitment was limitless and unwavering.
Today we remember all those who tragically lost their lives that day and all those who stepped in to help in the aftermath of destruction.
