VA Research Week gives VA medical centers an opportunity to showcase the numerous achievements of VA researchers and the role they play in providing high quality care for Veterans and advancing medical science. The goal is to help educate Veterans and our communities about VA research and its impact on treating and preventing disease and disability, not only for Veterans, but all Americans.
VA Research discoveries. VA researchers study a wide range of health topics from cancer, diabetes, women’s health and mental health; to prosthetics and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research Week is the premier event for researchers to present their discoveries on these topics and to show how they translate research to patient care and services for Veterans.
Veteran Participation in Research. Every year, Veterans from all over the country participate in research studies to help improve the lives of other Veterans. During Research Week, we honor Veterans and formally thank them for the vital role they play in supporting and contributing to the VA Research Program.
Collaborations and Partnerships. VA Research depends on its collaborations and partnerships with academic affiliates, industry partners, nonprofit organizations, outside organizations and Veteran service organizations to deliver high-quality results. For Research Week, VA highlights these partnerships and the successful research studies that have been made possible through these collaborations.
For more than 90 years, VA Research has been improving the lives of Veterans and all Americans through health care discovery and innovation.
Did you know? The groundbreaking achievements of VA researchers, most of who work in direct care, have resulted in 3 Nobel prizes and 7 Lasker awards, not to mention countless cures.

I would like to participate in research studies.
I Am a Ptsd disability veteran.
I have been treated for over 10 years.
How do I find out which research projects I or by medical record viewing, I am participating in??? Also, how do I get a copy of what all I am signing off on – using those electronic signature apparatus as of late ??? I really prefer paper, so I can keep a file … is there a way of getting paper copy before signing … without upsetting the VA personnel ???
