VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System and the Corpus Christi Ice Rays of the North American Hockey League teamed up to host a “Welcome Home” event for Veterans last month at American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Approximately 300 people attended the event, which focused on the showing appreciation for the newest generation of Veterans and their families.
“VA is committed to reaching out to Veterans and their families, employers and community.,” said VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System acting director Michael Ojeda during opening remarks for the event.
The family-friendly event featured a tailgate party, benefits fair, classic car show, face painting, food and tickets for an Ice Rays hockey match.
“Our mission can only be accomplished when Veterans know the full range of services VA offers,” added Kristy Martin who was the VA employee who served as the primary coordinator for this year’s Welcome Home event.
