Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Evelyn M. Noles Bayer. Evelyn served during World War II from 1944 to 1945.

Evelyn was born in the state of Missouri in July 1920. After being motivated to join the war effort while working on a drill site in Chicago, she enlisted to serve in the Women’s Army Corps in October of 1944 as a dental technician. She attended basic training in Des Moines, Iowa, and was assigned to Fitzsimmons Hospital in Colorado upon graduation.

She enjoyed her work as a dentist technician and was the matchmaker of a group of ladies that she enlisted with. After leaving the service, Evelyn moved back to Chicago and joined the Humane Society. She brought together service members that were injured and interested in adopting a pet together. She passed away in February 2016.

We honor her service.
