Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Conrad Gary. Conrad was a police officer in the Air Force and city of Chicago.
Conrad was born in Oak Lawn, Illinois in August 1987. He grew up with two brother and attended Oak Lawn Community High School. Following high school, he attended Eastern Illinois University where he graduated in 2009.
After college, Conrad joined the Air Force. He served as a police officer and spent time stationed in Germany. After five years in the Air Force, Conrad served one more year in the Air Force Reserves.
After leaving the Air Force, Conrad moved back to Chicago. He was then hired by the Chicago Police Department to serve as an officer on the city’s south side in the fifth police district office where he worked for nearly two years. On December 17, 2018, Conrad was struck by a train while pursuing a suspected gunman. Conrad was deeply devoted to his wife Kelly and daughter Tess. He is known for being outstanding uncle and a big fan of the Chicago Cubs.
We honor his service.
