The Veteran Employment Services Office (VESO), formerly known as VA for Vets, provides federal employment support services to Veterans and transitioning service members seeking (primarily) VA employment. Chief amongst those services is how VESO’s training helps demystify the federal hiring process.
VESO teaches Veterans how to match their job skills/education with career counseling that best aligns with federal occupations. It also provides guidance to VA Hiring Managers, supervisors, and HR specialists seeking to fill critical vacancies with qualified Veterans. Additionally, it helps speed the hiring process: its use of Special Hiring Authorities have led to a reduction in the hiring process wait from over 80 days to under 30 days.
In support of wounded, ill and injured service members, VESO partners with DoD’s Warrior Care Program Regional Coordinators to promote DoD’s Operation Warfighter (OWF) and Education (E2) internship program. This program matches candidates with DoD federal internships for work experience during their recovery and rehabilitation process, helping service members successfully transition into the civilian workforce.
