National nonprofit, Challenge America, is pleased to announce the first annual holiday membership drive for its Military Sisterhood Initiative (MSI), a national peer-support network designed by and for women Veterans.
The Military Sisterhood Initiative offers a safe and inclusive space where women can reconnect with their sisters to find and offer support, discover and share resources, and build new friendships. MSI currently includes more than 3,700 members from all service eras and branches. The holiday membership drive coincides with the launch of several new features within the community, including the MSI Resource Library, Sister Diaries, and the MSI Art Studio.
“The Military Sisterhood Initiative allows us to see the best of who we are in the eyes of another woman. Helps us to share the good and bad of our journey. Having a bond with individuals who will always support you no matter what.” -MSI Sister
In the MSI community, women Veterans and service women find useful resources that help them connect with their sisters. For example, if they are looking for an interesting event to attend, like Veteran Tai Chi, they can scroll through listed events by date and location.
MSI shares events that are run both by Challenge America and by other organizations serving women Veterans. A recent addition to the events calendar is a monthly MSI Hangout on Zoom, allowing sisters to get together to chat and get to know one another in a safe and informal setting.
Another exciting addition is the MSI Resource Library, an interactive space where members can discover and share programs and services for women Veterans. The Resource Library allows members to explore and add information on relevant resources organized by categories, including VA Benefits and Services, Health and Wellness, and Employment.
If you offer a service to women Veterans, please email info@challengeamerica.com so that your information can be added.
With Military Sisterhood Initiative members from all 50 states and 18 countries, 400 new members join the community each month. While we are proud of this success, we know we can do better. During this particularly challenging holiday season, we are determined to reach an additional 10,000 women Veterans. There is no cost to join.
If you are a female service member or Veteran, please join us today at militarysisterhoodinitaitive.org.
The sharing of any non-VA information does not constitute an endorsement of products and services on part of VA.
Lilly Khorsand is a program coordinator for MSI.
