Telehealth hub in Boise to serve thousands of rural Veterans

VA opened a new Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) in Boise, Idaho, on April 20, 2022.

The hub provides space for VA staff treating Veterans via telehealth

The Clinical Resource Hub is the first facility of its kind in VA and will serve as space for VA staff treating Veterans via telehealth. The hub will also offer training space for VA staff, students and residents.

The CRH accommodates over 200 staff members, including physicians, advanced practice providers, psychologists, social workers, nurses, schedulers, pharmacists, technicians and other specialists, and administrative support.

VISN 20 Director Dr. Teresa D. Boyd said that “every detail of the work environment was thoughtfully designed to prioritize collaborative care, creativity and flexibility.”

Increased access

The Clinical Resource Hub provides increased access to VA care for Veterans in rural areas. It reduces the need for Veterans having to travel great distances to receive VA health care.

To date, the hub has served over 11,000 individual Veterans. The hub will continue to expand by hiring additional VA providers with the potential to serve thousands more Veterans across the western United States.

The Boise VA Medical Center and surrounding Community Based Outpatient Clinics meet the health care needs of the estimated 100,000 military Veterans living in the southern Idaho/eastern Oregon region. Boise VA Medical Center and surrounding clinics treat almost 32,000 individual Veterans each year. It provides primary care, surgical, behavioral health, long-term care, oncology and dental services. Boise VA Medical Center is an 87 bed teaching and research hospital.
