Veteran Roswell Goler was homeless for five years, but now the former Navy Corpsman is living on his own and works as an emergency medical technician. VA was able to help him get a housing grant so he could start school and life again. Our VA News team spoke with him at the D.C. VA Medical Center’s Winter Haven stand down in January and got his story.  Find out more in episode 572 of VA News.

VA is committed to ending Veteran homelessness by the end of 2015. No one who has served our country should ever go without a safe, stable place to call home.

Know that one phone call can be the difference in the life of a Veteran who is homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Make the Call to 877-4AID-VET (424-3838) to be connected 24/7 with VA’s services to overcome or prevent homelessness for yourself or a Veteran you know.

Makes sense to me. One more thing. Why is it that all of the comments on the VA blog disabled or closed?

Maybe the goal should be “No one who has served our country should ever go without a properly and adjudicated claim”? Seems that there are a lot of people whose claims get denied and maybe that is why they are homeless? Are they waiting on appeals? Why is it they can get help and their claims decided and the returning Vets can’t? Most are VietNam Vets who have been homeless for years, but now with the claims being denied faster because they are computerized, I wonder how many homeless Veterans there are in the OIF/OEF Soldiers that served their Country? Why make new homeless Veterans? Take care of them NOW and they might not become homeless. Makes sense to me. One more thing. Why is it that all of the comments on the VA blog disabled or closed? Why can’t they leave them open? Because we don’t agree and they don’t want to see what we say when we criticize them? Yeah, typical for them to stifle our freedom of expression and freedom of speech.
