Veterans receiving health care from VA, we heard you.
We know how many of you appreciate being able to request mail prescription refills and then track the package on My HealtheVet. You’ve done it 89.4 million times since 2005.
And we’ve heard how many of you appreciate the ability to electronically and securely communicate with your VA health care teams using the Secure Messaging feature on My HealtheVet. You’ve sent or received 40 million messages since 2008.
We’ve heard how much you appreciate these features and so we’ve prioritized making them available for you on Vets.gov, our website that lets Veterans “do” things—quickly and easily.
Secretary Bob McDonald wants Vets.gov to centralize all online Veteran experiences to a single website as a “one-stop shop” to meet all your online needs. That’s why Vets.gov has been partnering with My HealtheVet to offer some of VA’s most popular features in a centralized place for Veterans to access and easily use.
So that brings us to today’s big news. You can now process your prescription refill requests, track your prescriptions, and communicate through secure messaging – all on Vets.gov if you have a My HealtheVet premium account and register for a Vets.gov account.
How do you get started? Just a few clicks and you can set up your account on Vets.gov. Verify you have a My HealtheVet premium account or visit My HealtheVet to learn how. Register for a Vets.gov account and use your DS Logon Premium credential or get an ID.me credential. Visit Vets.gov to learn how. As when you signed up for My HealtheVet, you will find the registration time will be worth it when you start using all the new improved features. Additional health-related functionality will be added to Vets.gov on an ongoing basis as it’s available and proven.
Also, we’re aware that many Veterans use mobile devices (smartphones or tablets) as their primary tool to access the Internet. You’ll be glad to know that all of Vets.gov was designed with mobility in mind and that is certainly true for the new prescription refill and VA secure messaging features.
And don’t worry; your existing My HealtheVet account is still available if you prefer to use that for now. One last thing – you only need to send a message or submit a prescription refill request from just one of the websites. It’s all the same under the hood.
Don’t miss out on an enhanced experience on Vets.gov – try out the new features as soon as you’re able, and keep an eye out for much more to come
How do I access the secure messaging and prescription refill features on Vets.gov?
To access the secure messaging and prescription refill features on Vets.gov, you will need a My HealtheVet Premium account, then register for a Vets.gov account using your DS Logon Premium account or get a new ID.me account.
For more information about how to obtain a DS Logon Premium account, visit My Access Center website. For more information about how to obtain an ID.me account, visit the vets.gov website.
Please try it out and let us know what you think. We’re working to improve the system all the time based on your feedback.
When current My HealtheVet users sign up for Vets.gov, they will benefit from a redesigned homepage that gives Veterans quick access to popular tasks and see enhanced navigation to many of VA’s key online features that were previously spread across various sites, requiring multiple credentials.
We’re working hard to make things better because we want you to say, “That’s MyVA.”
