Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Charles E. Farrell. Charles served during the Korean War and attained the rank of captain.
Following his military service, Charles worked for the Sussex County Housing Authority in Delaware and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, becoming a grand master for Delaware from 1993 to 1994 and a past master of Endeavor Lodge 17 in Milton. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, the York Rite and the Delaware Colonials, all freemasonry organizations.
Charles served on the Commission of Veteran Affairs after his service and became president of the Purple Heart Association. He was also a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Charles passed away on Sept. 11, 2011 at the age of 79. He is survived by his five children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
We honor his service.
