The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is leveraging telehealth technology to help protect you and your family from the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Using video telehealth appointments, you can connect with your VA care teams from anywhere, without traveling and exposing yourself, your family, and other Veterans to COVID-19.

Video telehealth options, such as VA Video Connect, will enable you and your VA care team to conduct secure, real-time video visits using the camera on your phone, computer, or tablet. If you don’t need an in-person physical examination, VA Video Connect enables you to reach your care team without making the trip to a VA facility.

Making healthy choices, like the decision to stay home when you are sick, will help protect you and other Veterans. This video shows how easy it is to use telehealth visits at the VA. You can watch the PSA video here.

If you have flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath, contact your provider before you visit your local medical center or clinic. If you have an appointment, consider changing it to a telehealth appointment. You can also use My HealtheVet’s Secure Messaging feature to contact your care team to ask non-urgent health questions and change your appointments to telehealth.

You can use VA Video Connect on your computer or on your Apple or Android devices. To get started, message your provider about using VA Video Connect for your next appointment. You can also learn more on the VA Video Connect page on the VA App Store.

This appears to be VHA only. What about VBA? 10 years ago I worked at VR&E CO and developed Remote Counseling, an app that was encrypted and successfully tested across the country. The intent was at least VBA-wide and potentially linked to VHA. That was 10 years ago.

I’ve been told about tele care for over a year but never been told HOW to GET IT! Is it an App? How? I told my PCP & they keep saying they will send an email. I haven’t got ANYTHING.

Help for older Veterans in southern Oregon, specifically Klamath Falls, is nonexistent. I’ve tried to get a assistance since June 2019 after I bought my final home. I tried again in October at a C& P assessment to no avail. I developed an abscessed tooth toward the end of October with significant pain. I called White City for a community referral. They told me they had no representatives in Klamath County available to see me. I again requested community referral which is my right. If they can’t get me to the appropriate medical personnel, they have to refer in 30 days.

Five months have passed and my health continues to deteriorate. I struggle with a service connected condition that has my heart rate falling to the low 30s with occasions as low as 28 BPM. My condition was first diagnosed at Spokane VAMC in 2006. They have done nothing to resolve my service-connected injury and its consequences.
