Twenty years after the fatal tragedies at the World Trade Center in New York City, at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and on United Airways Flight 93, Sept. 11 still serves as a constant reminder of the domestic and foreign threats that our country has faced throughout history.
The casualty totals from 9/11 were 2,977 lives lost. 441 first responders died during the rescue attempts; 246 passengers and crew were lost on the four flights; and 2,290 people were killed during the attacks at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
VA is dedicating today’s #VeteranOfTheDay to those brave Veterans who lost their lives as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Below are the victims buried in VA national cemeteries. Their names are linked to their 9/11 Memorial page. Their cemetery location is linked to their Veterans Legacy Memorial page, where people can click and leave a tribute.
We honor their service.
