The Department of Veterans Affairs announced that nearly 5 million Veterans and service members have been added to the Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM) — the nation’s first digital platform dedicated to the memory of Veterans and service members.
In September VA’s National Cemetery Administration awarded $51.3 million in grants to state Veterans cemeteries to help deliver timely and accessible burial and memorial services to Veterans close to where they live.
Since 1973, NCA has ensured that Veterans, service members, and their families are honored with a final resting place that pays tribute to their service.
Today, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced more than 60 VA national cemeteries will host National Day of Service events Sept. 11. These events will honor the Veterans, service members, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, and other first responders who served and sacrificed for the nation Sept. 11, 2001, and in the 22 years since.

VA adds 300,000 Veterans and service members from 27 military cemeteries to Veterans Legacy Memorial
The Department of Veterans Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of Army Cemeteries, announced that it has added 300,000 service members and Veterans interred in 27 Department of Defense-managed military cemeteries into the Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM) website.
Today, VA announced that it will host Memorial Day ceremonies at more than 130 national cemeteries to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation.
Between April 27 and May 29, the Department of Veterans Affairs will host a 20,000-mile march with more than 214,000 volunteers in honor of Veterans and service members.
This month, VA's National Cemetery Administration awarded its billionth dollar to states, U.S. territories, and Tribes for the establishment, expansion, improvement, and maintenance of state, territorial, and Tribal Veterans cemeteries. The milestone was reached with a grant of $1,860,775 to the state of North Dakota for the expansion of the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
VA's National Cemetery Administration (NCA) - which provides Veterans and their families with burial benefits and memorial services - led all organizations, public or private, in the prestigious American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) for 2022. NCA received a score of 97, the highest score ever achieved by any organization rated by the ACSI. This is the seventh consecutive time NCA has ranked first overall in customer satisfaction.
VA national cemeteries are looking for volunteers to participate in the Sept. 9 National Day of Service to honor those who served in the nation's armed forces in the 21 years since 9/11.
