Medal of Honor

Veteran and social worker Gordon Roberts received the Medal of Honor for “Gallantry in Action” in Vietnam.

VA recently developed a pilot program providing direct and specialized assistance for the 65 living Medal of Honor recipients nationwide.  

Veterans all over the world can instantly appreciate extraordinary heroism in action, especially when it comes to Medal of Honor (MOH) recipients who have risked their own lives to save a comrade.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Ola Lee Mize, a Medal of Honor recipient who fought in Korea and Vietnam.

Today's #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran William Thompson, who received a posthumous Medal of Honor for service in the Korean War.

Today's #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran John N. Reese, Jr., who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II.

Today's America250 and #VeteranOfTheDay honors Army Veteran Clifford Sims, who was posthumously the Medal of Honor.

Today's #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Paris D. Davis, who earned the Medal of Honor for service in Vietnam.

When he was informed that he would receive the Medal of Honor, Cpt. Groberg said, “‘Thank you for recognizing me, but this does not belong to me. It belongs to them.’ That’s how I’m coping with it mentally. This gives me an opportunity to represent them and their families.”

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Charles Long, who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and earned a Medal of Honor for securing his platoon’s retreat in the Korean War.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Marine Corps Veteran John McGinty, who received a Medal of Honor for his leadership during the Vietnam War.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Michael Monsoor, who served as a Navy SEAL during Operation Iraqi Freedom and posthumously received the Medal of Honor.
