VA medical centers and communities connect with Veteran patients during National Salute to Veteran Patients week
With over 50,000 patients using VA’s Fort Worth clinic, a drive-through option for the COVID-19 vaccine was very popular and highly utilized. Staff vaccinated 400 enrolled Veteran patients over 8 hours.
Every year around Valentine’s Day, VA invites you to help us salute our Veteran patients with cards and visits…and learn how you can volunteer to help at your local VA medical center.
VA Voluntary Service says thank you for more than $25 million in gifts and donations to VA designated for COVID-19 support. Communities and organizations nationwide help Veterans and their families.
The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center received 10,000 masks for Veteran patients and their families. Five partner organizations made it possible. Pilot Vietnam Vet Ted Forester said, “I’m your man!”
When patients were disappointed they could not attend Veterans Day activities, VA staff brought the parade to them. “A joy to see their faces light up as the parade went through the hospital.”
Army Veteran “Doc” Dentice planned on a one-and-done holiday party for Veterans at the Milwaukee VA back in 1988. This year, assisted by 85 volunteers, he did it again…party number 31!
The American Legion Auxiliary helps Veterans find gifts for their caregivers at Columbia VA Health Care System. Volunteers do all the shopping and wrapping…their annual “Thank you!”
