Hi , I’m a OIF , OEF vet and I do not see any activity in Puerto Rico or Virgin Island and there’s a lot of veterans. Thanks for the information, have a nice one…
In Puerto Rico we vets get treated like trash. I ont know about others but my experience has been bad. This place don’t like veterans at all and never hld any events for vets. There are like two or three hundred thousand veterans in this tiny island. But on the streets, if you even dare mention that you are a veteran, they either dismiss you or treat you with absolute indiference; or worse, often they take aim at you by treating you as if all vets have some kind of mental illness and therefore can’t be trusted. Simply for being a veteran. I’ve even heard some people saying that those that join the military here do so because they are too stu**d and can’t do any better. But when I ask them what education they have, most haven’t even been to college. I myself have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and you would think they’d think differently of me… well, think again. Nope! I still get treated like trash. And then they claim to be “American” citizens here. Hell no… if they were, they’d be proud of us and would show us some respect. I still remember the day some freaking young dude (a Puerto Rican civilian working at the VA hospital down here) barked at me because I was speaking in English with someone else. Actually, the girl started the conversation in English, and I went along in English so as to not be rude by responding in Spanish. Anyway, the guy simply butted into our conversation and started mocking me (in Spanish), questioning why I wasn’t speaking in Spanish there. Like I said, this was inside the VA hospital here while working there. BTW, I had just started working there while working on my degree. This behavior you’ll see here every now and then. But not everybody is like that. Most folks don’t say anything… they just leave. Others, are courteous. But occasionally someone will grow annoyed if you speak English next to them. That one time with that guy, we almost ended up fighting at work because I don’t take crap from no one. So I told him it’s not his f..ing business what language I speak and that he should mind his own business. A similar situation happened to me at a supermarket here. That one time it was a woman that barked at me for speaking English with someone else. I told her to go f%&#bleep herself. She then called the cops on me and they made me leave the place. Women always win even when often it’s them that start the fracas.
In posting this, what was your desired outcome?
I believe he has earned the right to vent. Thank you for your service.

We are giving a Veterans Day Gala Celebration in the Dominican Republic on November 11th, 2022. Going forward how can we get listed for next year event?
What about Puerto Rico?
Is there any event in Puerto Rico?
Are you kidding me!!!! Ohio has one of the largest veteran populations of all states and major VA Medical Centers and yet there is not one single event on the listing by states and just one in the 33 communities’ section in Columbus. How can that possibly be???
I have as much inside knowledge as you, and I would guess not as many people in Ohio submitted their events to be listed and/or some (Ohio) volunteer(s?) for the VA didn’t do as much tracking down of events as others. I bet if you put a little time/research in, Ohio would have a salute-worthy list next year!

Are you ….. kidding me. You listed the the Hudson Veterans Day Dinner as an event (https://giving.massgeneral.org/events/veteransdaydinner). The CHEAPEST ticket is $1000. And while it as at The American Heritage Museum, which is an awesome place, the cost is a little ridiculous. I have an issue with a big $ fundraiser being called a Veteran’s Dinner, so even though can afford it, count me out.
There is an error under Louisiana. We do have a ‘Hammond, LA, but not a parade. The one listed under Hammond, Louisiana is for a Veterans parade in Indiana.
Why did you leave the District Of Columbia off of this list. After all the VA is based their?
[Editor: There are 10 listings for the District of Columbia.]
Thank you for compiling this list.
There is also a Veterans Day parade in Reno, NV.
There are literally multiple listings under District of Columbia…
