At VA, we pride ourselves in the high-quality work and care we provide to our Veterans, and our VA Traveling Nurses play a huge role in our Veterans’ care. If you’re looking for a new exciting opportunity in health care, here are the top five reasons to consider becoming a VA traveling nurse.
- A Wide Variety of Opportunities
- Through the VA Travel Nurse Corps Program (TNC), our nurses have been placed throughout the United States. Our nurses provide services everywhere from Alaska and Florida to certain U.S. Islands groups – Puerto Rico, Guam, the Philippines, etc.
2. Traveling Nurses Are Well Trained
- Our VA medical centers are high-tech facilities, so it’s our duty to make sure that our nurses are fully prepared for any situation. Traveling Nurses are trained on the special needs of Veterans, VA policies, CPRS (the computerized patient medical record system), BCMA (bar code medication administration), emergency response training/certification, the VA Travel Nurse Corps operating procedures and the VA Health Care System in general.
3. Generous Compensation Package
- At VA, taking care of our nurses is a priority. Some of the benefits we provide our Traveling Nurses include: paid orientation, daily stipend for meals, holiday pay and daily transportation support to work.
4. Options with Lodging
- Making sure our Traveling Nurses are comfortable is a priority. That’s why we let our nurses decide the type of lodging that best suits their needs. Depending on the location, you have the option of hotels, extended stay suites and even one-bedroom apartments.
5. Veterans Are Encouraged
- We strongly recommend that Veterans apply to be a part of the VA Travel Nurse Corps. It’s a great way to continue traveling while having the opportunity to work at various VA medical centers.
