At Veterans Health Administration (VHA), we are committed to improving and making the lives of our Veteran patients easier. With our MyHealtheVet program, patients are given control of their health records via an interactive website. Veterans and active-duty service members are able to safely and securely view VHA lab results, log and track vital signs, get wellness reminders, view their appointments and fill prescriptions. They also have the opportunity to export their health data into one file for their records, all from the convenience of their home.
With our secure messaging, patients can rest assured that their personal health records are kept private between them and their doctors. Patients are given 24/7 access to their VHA health care providers who can offer answers and support for their inquiries.
“It just takes a lot of stress out of having to leave from home—maybe if they’re disabled or don’t like being out or it’s hard to get to the VA through busses or taxis or having to arrange a ride,” says Devin Naszbaum, an Iraq War vet. “It makes it a lot easier to interact with your doctor wherever and whenever from your home or from your smartphone.”
The platform makes doctor-patient communication so simple that even those without a lot of technological experience can use it.
“I’m not a high-tech type of person,” explains Vietnam War Veteran Larry Ubl. “I’m old school, but I found it really easy.”
VHA employees are truly devoted to being there for their Veteran patients who have shown devotion to the United States, and MyHealtheVet and its secure messaging system allows them to be more connected than ever before.
“I really like using secure messaging, because I can do it whenever and wherever from my smartphone. If I’m walking down the street, if I’m in a coffee shop, if it’s 2 o’clock in the morning and I have a question about my health or medications or almost anything, I can message my doctor right then and there. I don’t have to wait until 8-5, Monday-Friday to make a phone call,” Devin says.
