As we wrap up 2016, we’re taking a look back at some of our favorite posts of the year. It’s our way of celebrating our culture while bringing positive energy with us into 2017 and beyond.
In September we introduced you to Anna, a clinical psychologist at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. She explained that the culture of VA is changing around mental health through the recovery model, focusing on Veterans’ strengths, needs and preferences. This is accomplished by designing a program of classes and therapies that Veterans want to participate in. We also put a greater emphasis on PTSD and trauma-related treatments and recovery for severe mental illness. There are even programs that utilize peer-support specialists who add a unique aspect to Veterans’ care.
From Anna’s perspective, the beauty of VA is its interconnectedness. Watch her interview and other interviews with employees in a number of our departments.
