As one of our country’s most pressing health issues, heart disease is a very important topic of discussion – not just this month, but every month. This is especially true for women, who have a higher lifetime risk of stroke than men do. In fact, 90% of women have one or more risk factors for heart disease or stroke. When you also consider that women are the fastest-growing group within the Veteran population, you can see why our team works so diligently to improve their overall cardiovascular health.

Women Veterans Health Care

A big part of this effort starts with our Women Veterans Health Care team. At each VA Medical Center throughout the nation, a Women Veterans Program Manager is designated to advise and advocate for patients, and to help coordinate primary and specialty care services such as the screening and management of heart disease.

Cardiology Services

From cardiovascular research to a range of diagnostic and care management services, our Cardiology team addresses a variety of heart disorders. This includes coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure and more. No matter the issue, caregivers in this specialty work together to ensure a personalized experience that exceeds patient expectations every time.
