Benefits Breakdown is a new series of programming coming alongside the newly titled Borne the Battle podcast. Each Monday, I will look at a benefit, resource or program office offered at VA and talk about how Veterans can better use or explore that topic.

To kick off this weekly series, I’m going to look at Explore VA.

Explore VA can be found at explore.va.gov and is a great tool for exploring benefits offered by VA. Right on the front page is a set of benefits you can explore and apply for including disability compensation, health care, memorial benefits, and education.

I was like many Veterans getting out of the military and was unaware of what I qualified for or how to take advantage of it. I’ve now used my education benefits and have used a home loan. To learn what else I may be eligible for, I used the Benefits Navigator that can be accessed by clicking the red “Get Started” button on the front page.

The Benefits Navigator only takes 20 minutes, it keeps your answers secure, and it ends with a list of benefits you may be able to receive from VA with links to how to apply for them.

The website is appropriately named, as it really lends itself to exploration. Click around, watch some videos, learn about eligibility, and take the first step to accessing the benefits you qualify for. Click play on the media below to hear more about how to use Explore VA.

The #VApodcast is now available in iTunes, Stitcher Radio, Google Play, and Spotify. Search “Borne the Battle” in your podcast app of choice to subscribe.
