Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Jeannette Mabe Lewis Marshall.
Jeanette served from 1952 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. After completing flight school, she was assigned to Japan as a member of an air evacuation crew that flew soldiers from Korea to Japan. In 1955, her evacuation crew took wounded French soldiers from Vietnam to the Philippines.
Jeannette later served as the ward nurse at a general medic ward in California. She was also stationed as a nurse in Germany and England. After her service, she participated in volunteer work. She helped start the Society of Air Force Nurses, which is now a national organization. Jeannette passed away on April 5, 2007 at the age of 92.
We honor her service.

Veterans History Project
This #VeteranOfTheDay profile was created with interviews submitted to the Veterans History Project. The project collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war Veterans so that future generations may hear directly from Veterans and better understand the realities of war.
