One of VA’s biggest events of the year, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Innovation Experience (iEX), has already announced its incredible keynote speaker, Mark Johnson, but the engaging and informative speakers attending do not stop there. On the first day of the three-day event, leaders from across the industry will join innovators from VHA Innovation Ecosystem (VHA IE) to discuss how innovation and partnerships can help transform and improve Veteran health care.
Broadcast live from the National Press Club on Oct. 27, iEX will feature one fireside chat and two fascinating panels designed around this year’s theme – Delivering More, Together – for attendees to watch, discuss and engage with.
Fireside Chat: Embracing Disruptive Innovation in Health Care
Join moderator Dr. Kenneth Kizer as he sits down with Dean Kamen for a discussion on how disruptive innovation can help VHA create a safe environment to build integrated, systematic, and repeatable pathways for change. Kamen is an inventor, entrepreneur and tireless advocate for science and technology. He holds more than 1,000 U.S. and foreign patents, many of them for innovative medical devices that have expanded the frontiers of health care worldwide. This discussion will be an enlightening look into how innovators can change the future of health care – not just for Veterans, but the world.
Panel 1: Enabling an Innovative Workforce
Moderator Joseph Grace of Grace and Associates hosts a panel featuring leaders who develop innovative workforces. He will be joined by Stacey Chang of the Design Institute for Health, Andy Waldeck from Innosight, Dr. Martha Gray of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Arianne Miller from The Lab at the U.S. Office of Personal Management. The theme of the panel is to define how health systems can enable and train innovators to advance innovative ideas.
Panel 2: Optimizing Partnerships
Led once again by moderator Joseph Grace, this panel features panelists from private sector organizations who are experts in the world of health care partnership, or who are currently partnering with VHA IE to improve Veteran care. Grace will be joined by Dr. Saurabha Bhatnagar of United Health, Dr. Jay Bhatt from the American Hospital Association, Microsoft’s Director of Government Programs and Initiatives Jessica Davis, and American Veterans’ (AMVETS) Cherissa Jackson.
These three discussions are just some of the incredible events at iEX. The event will allow Veterans and the public to discover how VHA is using innovation, partnership, and technology to change and save Veteran lives. With a focus on partnership, iEX will show how VA is working alongside the health care community to deliver more, together.
