Shooting pool is a pastime many people enjoy, including Veterans and Service members. Navy Corpsman Malik Jones is definitely one of those individuals For years he played pool every weekend with his friends. That all changed, as with most everything else in his life, on July 29, 2017, when he suffered a gunshot to the back of his head while he was stateside in Virginia Beach, Va.

Army Veteran Brent King has returned for his fifth go at the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic. "The clinic recharges my batteries,” said the 47-year-old from Washington state.
Veterans ages 55 and older who are eligible for VA health care benefits may complete applications online April 2 through May 2.
“The clinic was life changing. We call it magic on the mountain,” said Brown. “I don’t even remember all the sports I’ve tried—self-defense, rock climbing, hand cycling, kayaking, tennis—and of course downhill skiing.”
Deanna Callender says she hopes other Veterans will follow her lead and learn about the possibilities available to disabled athletes.
The 2018 Paralympic Winter Games begin March 9 in PyeongChang with 18 military Veterans among the 74 athletes representing Team USA.
More than 3,000 volunteers are needed in Orlando, Florida, to help with the events, transportation and countless other support roles necessary to make the National Veterans Wheelchair Games happen.
