Stayce Harris was inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen and female pilots to serve in the Air Force. She later became the first African American woman to serve as a United States Air Force Lieutenant General

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Nekohl Mace, who served in the Army Reserve between 1989-1997 as a medical laboratory specialist.

The installation featuring Smith’s work is currently on display at the New Orleans Veterans medical center in honor of Black History Month 2019.
