Combat Veterans can experience long lasting emotional and spiritual pain from participating in, witnessing, or failing to prevent traumatic events that violate their core values or expectations of themselves or others. Some have described such experiences as “a deep soul wound that pierces a person’s identity, sense of morality and relationship to society” leaving Veterans to question who they are and how they can relate to others.
VA research drives the innovations that improve the lives of Veterans, like advanced prostheses, telehealth, and better treatments for mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
With nearly 60 call responders, social service assistants, and support staff, the center joins the VA facilities in Atlanta and Canandaigua, New York, that offer support for Veterans, service members and their family members during times of crisis.
Next month, VA will host baby showers across the country, celebrating over 2,400 Veteran mothers and fathers welcoming babies in 2018. VA’s Nationwide Baby Shower event will have all the trappings of a traditional baby shower
