VA dentist Dr. Joseph Hancock started at VA in 1970 when “WWII Veterans were the ‘young’ ones.” His career of service has lasted 51 years.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Walter Bernard Straka, a 101 year old and the last survivor of the Bataan Death March from Minnesota.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay are Navy Veterans Hawley Spradlin and Ruth Marie Nicholson Spradlin Cutlar, who served as aircraft mechanics during World War II.

VA and Vietnam Veterans of American hosted a Facebook Live event about the recent expansion of VA’s Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers to WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans.

The Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers will expand sometime in October, with a launch date to be announced in mid-September.

Signalman First Class Paul Kennedy was serving deck duty on the USS Sacramento in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on the morning of Dec. 7, 1941. After the bombings, Kennedy served on the USS Poole and helped escort landing craft crossing the English Channel into Normandy on D-Day.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Air Corps Veteran Edward Stever, who served with the Army Air Corps during World War II.
