The American Red Cross has worked in partnership with the American College of Emergency Physicians to develop a new online training course, Until Help Arrives. This course provides individuals who have little or no medical training with the knowledge to take action and provide lifesaving care when they are the first on the scene during an emergency.
Until Help Arrives is a revolutionary solution to empower people to act and provide vital help to someone in distress. The online, non-certification, 90-minute class covers the most critical first aid topics—compression-only CPR, AED use, choking, bleeding and opioid overdose—to provide people with lifesaving skills until help arrives. This is an incredible opportunity to arm individuals with the training needed to help someone in an emergency, no matter when or where it happens.
All Red Cross volunteers have access to this training free of charge. Red Cross Trainings are a valuable resource for all our volunteers. If you’re interested in volunteering with the Red Cross, please visit the Red Cross volunteer webpage.
The Red Cross has numerous volunteer opportunities including Service to the Armed Forces, where volunteers can support our armed forces as a hospital volunteer, lending a hand to patients at VA Medical Centers and Military Treatment Facilities. You can volunteer as an Armed Forces Caseworker to ensure delivery of emergency communications for members of the military and their families. Veteran caregivers have an opportunity to volunteer as mentors, support group facilitators and online moderators for the Red Cross Military and Veteran Caregiver Network.
More than 4.6 million people turn to the American Red Cross, the trusted training provider for First Aid, CPR, BLS and more, every year to gain lifesaving skills. The Red Cross is trusted to deliver unmatched lifesaving training that will provide confidence and skills to act when moments matter. We teach in the classroom with experienced instructors, in convenient locations, and it meets education, credentialing and privileging requirements for professional health care responders. We teach online with self-paced interactive courses that start immediately and have course access after completion.
