The word is out: VA Health Connect is a simple way for Veterans to connect with a real person right now for:

  • Help with scheduling appointments.
  • Pharmacy needs.
  • Medical evaluations and guidance.
  • A virtual meeting with a medical provider, including tele-emergency care if appropriate.

VA Health Connect has handled more than 120 million calls with more than 10 million unique calls from Veterans and their families and caregivers. Veterans can call from anywhere at any time to get the care they need when they need it.

One Veteran truck driver called VA Health Connect from the road and a VA nurse convinced him to go to the ER for symptoms of deep vein thrombosis. The Veteran had four clots in his leg that could have caused a heart attack or stroke if not urgently treated. His call to VA Health Connect likely saved his life.

Veterans can call from anywhere at any time

When you have a question about your health and want to speak with someone right away through VA Health Connect, call your local VA medical center and select 1 for pharmacy, 2 for scheduling, or 3 to speak with a nurse.

To find your local VA medical center number, check the Find VA Locations webpage. You can also download the VA Health Chat app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app can also be launched in a web browser.

VA Health Connect and tele-emergency care do not replace emergency room care. Veterans should call 911 or go to the emergency room if they think they are experiencing a life-threatening emergency.

If a Veteran is in crisis or if a person is concerned about a Veteran in crisis, they should contact the Veterans Crisis Line to receive 24/7 confidential support. Veterans don’t have to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care to contact the crisis line. To reach responders, dial 988 then press 1; chat online, or text 838255.

I am a veteran who is trying to enroll in BCBS health insurance through the HHS Healthcare Marketplace.
I am eligible for VA Healthcare and was covered by VA through 2024. In order to qualify for the monthly tax credit toward my premiums, I MUST PROVIDE PROOF that I am no longer enrolled in VA Healthcare. I have sent a letter to the Janesville VA office requesting that I be UNenrolled in VA Healthcare.
The Marketplace insists that I up load “a letter from the VA that shows that I am NOT enrolled in VA healthcare.”
I have tried many, many times with many different VA contacts with the same result….They say that there is no way for the VA to provide such a letter. This cannot be the first time that a veteran has tried to sign up for insurance through the Affordable Care Act. There must be a way for these two major government agencies to communicate with one another.
    Can anyone help

Someone told me that after 1/31/25 there was going to be a change on how to access healthvet on line. Is this is true
What needs to be done. Thank you.

I have used Myhealthyvet to communicate with the VA for several years, to make appointments and order medications. Because I don’t have a smart phone I can no longer communicate with the VA on line. These phone numbers will be my new way to contact the VA. Thank You

I have used the VA Connect line before and have been connected with an actual registered nurse. It is so much easier than calling your local VA clinic.

I have problems with my VA supplied hearing aides. Think I need reevaluation and possibly new hearing aids. I am a retired Navy Officer and need help on getting help with this

I am a Vietnam veteran living in the Philippines and can’t get the health care that I earned because I am not disabled since when is disability a requirement for health care from the VA

Did you ever go to Sick Bay during your time of service? If so, how does it affect your life now? The VA has to be responsible for something disabling in order to treat you.

This is NOT available 24/7/365. I called the “special” extension on a Saturday and was disconnected by the extension, I DID NOT HANG UP.

  8. Willietta January 29, 2025 at 18:30

Seriously? It’s that simple and easy? My V.A. medical center has two “special” call in extensions, neither of which work! I got the run around, back and forth between the two extensions and was told by that they would send a message to the doctor who would call me when they could. I WAS LIED TO!!! They never sent a message. Later on I was sent to community care for a serious health issue and the doctor there called my V.A. and the person on this “special” call in extension would NOT transfer her to the clinic she was asking for!!!!

HOW IS THIS HELPING VETERANS GET THE CARE THEY NEED?

You must also be lying about how many veterans you have helped. I doubt you have helped 120 million callers!
